Howard Jordan is the former Chief of the Oakland Police Department. Jordan was appointed Interim Chief by Mayor Jean Quan in October 2011 after the resignation of Chief Anthony Batts. The appointment was made permanent the following February. [1] Prior to his appointment as Chief, Jordan had accrued over twenty years experience as a member of the Oakland Police Department. [2]

Jordan had previously served as Interim Chief in 2009 following the resignation of Wayne Tucker. [3]

Jordan announced his retirement due to medical reasons on May 8, 2013. [4] Assistant Chief Anthony Toribio became the department's interim chief in accordance with department policy, [5] replaced by Sean Whent only two days later. [6]

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is a law enforcement agency responsible for policing the city of Oakland, California, United States. As of March 2018, the department employed 747 sworn officers and 323 civilian employees. The demographics of the sworn officers are largely representative of the city as a whole, with 38.8 percent of officers of Caucasian descent and 61.1 percent of African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American or other descent.

Charlie Beck Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department

Charles Lloyd Beck is a retired police officer, ending his career as the Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). A veteran of the department with over four decades as an officer, he is known for commanding and rehabilitating the Rampart Division after the Rampart scandal; and for technology enhancements during his time as Chief of Detectives. He agreed to be interim Superintendent of Police in Chicago in late 2019 while the city searches nationwide for a replacement for retiring Eddie Johnson. Jean Quan California politician

Jean Quan was the 49th mayor of Oakland, California. She previously served as City Council member for Oakland's 4th District. Upon inauguration on January 3, 2011, she became Oakland's first female mayor. Quan ran an unsuccessful campaign for reelection in 2014, losing the mayoral race to Libby Schaaf, a member of the Oakland City Council.

Delphine Allen et al. v. City of Oakland was a civil rights lawsuit in Federal District Court regarding police misconduct in Oakland, California which has resulted in ongoing Federal oversight. Plaintiffs alleged mistreatment at the hands of four veteran officers, known as the "Riders", who were alleged to have kidnapped, planted evidence, and beaten citizens. Plaintiffs also alleged that the Oakland Police Department (OPD) turned a blind eye to police misconduct.

Roger MacLean is an American police officer and politician who is the President of the Allentown, Pennsylvania City Council. He also served as the acting Mayor of Allentown until March 29, 2018, when he was succeeded in the office by Ray O'Connell. MacLean became the acting mayor on Friday, March 9, 2018, with the resignation of Mayor Ed Pawlowski, who was convicted by jury on March 1, 2018, on 47 felony charges related to a pay-to-play scheme involving his asking for campaign donations in exchange for city contracts and favors.
