The following is the order of precedence in England and Wales as of May 2024. Separate orders exist for men and women.
The Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales is the head of the judiciary of England and Wales and the president of the courts of England and Wales.
A recorder is a judicial officer in England and Wales and some other common law jurisdictions.

Jonathan Hugh Mance,Baron Mance,is a retired British judge who was formerly Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
Igor Judge,Baron Judge,,was an English judge who served as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales,the head of the judiciary,from 2008 to 2013. He was previously President of the Queen's Bench Division,at the time a newly created post assuming responsibilities transferred from the office of lord chief justice. From 2019 to 2023,he served as Convenor of the Crossbench Peers in the House of Lords.
There are various levels of judiciary in England and Wales—different types of courts have different styles of judges. They also form a strict hierarchy of importance,in line with the order of the courts in which they sit,so that judges of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales are given more weight than district judges sitting in county courts and magistrates' courts. On 1 April 2020 there were 3,174 judges in post in England and Wales. Some judges with United Kingdom-wide jurisdiction also sit in England and Wales,particularly Justices of the United Kingdom Supreme Court and members of the tribunals judiciary.
Heather Carol Hallett,Baroness Hallett,,is a retired British judge of the Court of Appeal and a crossbench life peer. The first woman to chair the Bar Council and the fifth woman to sit in the Court of Appeal,Hallett led the independent inquest into the 7/7 bombings. In April 2019,she was appointed Chair of the Security Vettings Appeal Panel. In December 2021,she was announced as the chair of the public inquiry into the UK Government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. On 29 June 2022,the Government accepted Baroness Hallett's proposed terms of reference for the inquiry,with minor changes suggested by the devolved administrations.
Anthony Peter Clarke,Baron Clarke of Stone-cum-Ebony,is a British lawyer. He was one of the first 11 Supreme Court of the United Kingdom Justices and was the first High Court judge to be appointed directly to that court when it came into existence on 1 October 2009 without previously having sat as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary. He was appointed to the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong on 11 April 2011 as a non-permanent judge. He was previously Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales. He retired from the Supreme Court in September 2017.

Sir Martin James Moore-Bick,PC is a retired judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales.
Sue Lascelles Carr,Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill,is an English judge who has served as Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales since 1 October 2023. She is the first woman to serve as the head of the judiciary of England and Wales since the inception of the office of Lord Chief Justice in the 13th century. Carr previously served as a High Court judge from 2013 to 2020 and a Lady Justice of Appeal from 2020 to 2023.
Sir Stephen John Irwin,is a retired British judge and barrister. From September 2016 until October 2020,he was a Lord Justice of Appeal. From May 2006 to 2016,he served as a judge of the High Court of England and Wales.

William Nelson is a District Judge appointed by Queen Elizabeth II on the advice of the Lord Chancellor,the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales,the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon. The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the South Eastern Circuit,based at Thames Magistrates’Court with effect from 1 November 2021.
