Imitate Modern is a London-based contemporary photography and art gallery that exhibits work by emerging artists. [1] [2]

About

Imitate Modern was launched in 2011, initially occupying a space in Marylebone, London. [3] In 2015 it became a pop-up gallery, opening in various locations, including 90 Piccadilly and Goodwood Festival of Speed. In 2016 the gallery moved to its new permanent space at 19 Shepherd Market, London.

Imitate Modern hosted the first London solo exhibitions for Tyler Shields, Cartrain and Stik.[ citation needed ] In 2012, the French artist Philippe Shangti presents his exhibition "Saint Tropez to London" whose 28 provocative color images present a visual cocktail of drugs, fetishism, anarchy, sex and death. [4] [5] Imitate Modern hosted a solo exhibition by Rich Simmons, [6] and a retrospective dedicated to Kate Moss's anniversary in 2014 by Russell Marshall called 40.

The Whitechapel Gallery is a public art gallery in Whitechapel on the north side of Whitechapel High Street, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The original building, designed by Charles Harrison Townsend, opened in 1901 as one of the first publicly funded galleries for temporary exhibitions in London. The building is a notable example of the British Modern Style. In 2009 the gallery approximately doubled in size by incorporating the adjacent former Passmore Edwards library building. It exhibits the work of contemporary artists and organizes retrospective exhibitions and other art shows.

White Cube Contemporary art gallery with branches in London and Hong Kong, representing international artists

White Cube is a contemporary art gallery owned by Jay Jopling with two branches in London: Mason's Yard in central London and Bermondsey in South East London and one in Central, Hong Kong Island. The gallery also has office locations and viewing rooms at 10 avenue Matignon in Paris and 699 Madison Avenue in New York's Upper East Side. The Hoxton Square space in the East End of London was closed at the end of 2012 and the São Paulo gallery in 2015.

Modern Art Oxford is an art gallery established in 1965 in Oxford, England. From 1965 to 2002, it was called The Museum of Modern Art, Oxford.

Sadie Coles HQ is a contemporary art gallery in London, owned and directed by Sadie Coles. The gallery focuses on presenting the work of established and emerging international artists. It was at the forefront of the Young British Artists movement.

Philippe Parreno is a contemporary French artist who lives and works in Paris. His work includes film, installations, performance, drawing, and text. Parreno focuses on expanding ideas of time and duration through his artworks and distinctive conception of exhibitions as a medium. Preferring projects to objects, he began examining unique approaches to narration and representation in the 1990s and has been exhibiting internationally ever since.

Robert Prime was a gallery in London in the late 1990s. Founded by Tommaso Corvi-Mora and Gregorio Magnani, it held the first exhibitions in London of artists including Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Isa Genzken, Philippe Parreno and General Idea. It also hosted the first exhibitions of artists including Rachel Feinstein, Martin Maloney, Vydia Galstaldon and Jean-Michel Wicker. The gallery closed in December 1999.

491 Gallery

The 491 Gallery was a squatted self-managed social centre and multi-disciplinary gallery in Leytonstone, London, England, that operated from 2001 to 2013. Taking its name from its street number, 491 Grove Green Road, the former factory was home to a community-led art organisation and served as an exhibition space for a diverse range of artists of different origins working in varied media. It contained a range of art and music studios, which were used to host workshops, classes and musical rehearsals. The building was subsequently demolished in 2016.

Cartrain, often stylised cartяain, is a British artist associated with the graffiti urban art movement.

Lahd Gallery

Lahd Gallery is a contemporary Middle Eastern art gallery. Founded in 2005 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to create a focal point for women artists from the Persian Gulf, in 2010 it moved to its present location in Hampstead, London.

Riyas Komu

Riyas Komu born in Kerala is a critically acclaimed multimedia artist and curator based in Mumbai. He has invested his time in art education and developing art infrastructure in India. Komu's works are inspired by social conflicts and political movements and topics like migration and displacement. His hyper-realistic oil portraits of people resemble socialist-realist propaganda art and indeed one of his portraits is strikingly titled “Why Everybody should Look Like Mao”. In 2007, Komu was one of two artists from India selected for the 52nd Venice Biennale by curator Robert Storr. Later, he went on to represent the Iranian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2015. Komu also participated in the Jogja Biennale, Indonesia, 2011. Riyas born in 1971 in a small town in Thrissur District of Kerala. He lives and works in Mumbai.

Valerie Jaudon is an American painter commonly associated with various Postminimal practices – the Pattern and Decoration movement of the 1970s, site-specific public art, and new tendencies in abstraction.

Riflemaker

Riflemaker is a contemporary art business and exhibition space in London specialising in exhibiting and representing emerging artists. The building is a historic gunmaker's workshop off Regent Street. Built in 1712, it is one of the oldest public buildings in the West End of London. Riflemaker is also a publisher of artists books and host of a variety of events including poetry, music, film events, talks, discussions and performances in the space.

Leicester Galleries

Leicester Galleries was an art gallery located in London from 1902 to 1977 that held exhibitions of modern British, French and international artists' works. Its name was acquired in 1984 by Peter Nahum, who operates "Peter Nahum at the Leicester Galleries" in Mayfair.

Amalia Soto, known as Molly Soda, is a Brooklyn-based internet performance artist. Soda works across a variety of digital platforms, producing selfies videos, GIFs, zines, and web-based performance art, which are presented both online and in gallery installations in a variety of forms. Molly Soda's work explores the technological mediation of self-concept, contemporary feminism, cyberfeminism, mass media and popular social media culture. Molly Soda is the co-editor with Arvida Byström of the 2017 book Pics or It Didn't Happen: Images Banned from Instagram.

Olga Lomaka

Olga Lomaka is a Russian gallerist, contemporary artist and curator. Her style is known for working primarily within the pop-art movement, combining diverse materials and techniques in her pieces. Lomaka is actively exhibiting worldwide, participating in global art-fairs and biennales. She was named the Best Artist of the Year and won The Annual Award at the Aurora European Awards in Moscow in 2014. She was also awarded the title Fashion Artist of the Year by the Fashion TV Channel in Moscow in 2013.

Seth Bogart (artist) American artist

Seth Bogart is an American multidisciplinary artist. As a musician, he is known for his solo career, as well as Hunx and His Punx and Gravy Train!!!!. As a visual artist, Bogart's paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States, and he has created the World of Wonder web series Feelin' Fruity. He also runs the streetwear line Wacky Wacko.

Philippe Shangti is a multidisciplinary French contemporary artist. Born in 1983 in Toulouse, he studied in this city then he moved to Saint-Tropez at the beginnings of the 2000s. He became known by exhibiting his art on the walls of trendy restaurants. Ten years later, he moved to the Principality of Andorra.
