The Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade is an academic institution in Belgrade, Serbia. It is for research of political science.

Contents

History

The institute was founded in 1968 by the Government of SFR Yugoslavia. It in fact developed out of the research unit of the High School of Political Science. It developed into an independent scientific institution. After separating from the Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade, [1] the Institute for Political Studies was given the status of independent scientific institution under the Government of Republic of Serbia. [2]

Scope of Activity

Activities of the institute are conducted by a competent and diverse team of researchers, encompassing scientific fields and disciplines such as political science, international relations, law, economy, history, philosophy, psychology and social work. Research results are disseminated externally or through one of seven scientific journals published by the Institute. [3] [4]

Alondra Nelson is an American academic, policy advisor, non-profit administrator, and writer. She is the Harold F. Linder chair and professor in the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study, an independent research center in Princeton, New Jersey. From 2021 to 2023, Nelson was deputy assistant to President Joe Biden and principal deputy director for science and society of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), where she performed the duties of the director from February to October 2022. She was the first African American and first woman of color to lead OSTP. Prior to her role in the Biden Administration, she served for four years as president and CEO of the Social Science Research Council, an independent, nonpartisan international nonprofit organization. Nelson was previously professor of sociology at Columbia University, where she served as the inaugural Dean of Social Science, as well as director of the Institute for Research on Women and Gender. She began her academic career on the faculty of Yale University.

Professor Vojislav Stanovcic is a Serbian political scientist and theorist and a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU).

FEFA, officially Metropolitan University - FEFA, formerly known as Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration as a part of Singidunum University is a faculty in Novi Beograd, Belgrade, Serbia. It has been founded in 2001, and while de facto remaining independent, it was initially a member of Singidunum University and now is a member of the Metropolitan University. This higher education institution received its accreditation certificate in 2008, as first economics and management school in the country to do so under rules established by new Law on Higher Education, renewing these certificates in 2014 and 2017.

The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) is one of the newest faculties of Charles University. The Faculty was founded in 1990, shortly after the Velvet Revolution. It soon became a regional centre of teaching and research in area studies, economics, international relations, journalism, media studies, sociology and political science. The Faculty offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in social sciences. While the languages of instruction are Czech and English, students can choose from classes in a wide range of other languages, including French, German, Russian and Spanish.

The Faculty of Political Sciences is a constituent institution of the University of Belgrade which focuses on education and research in the fields of political science, international relations, journalism and communication studies, and social policy and social work. Sreten Sokić is a Serbian political scientist, economist, businessman and retired University Professor. Sokić was at the time Vice-Rector of the University of Belgrade, Vice-Rector at the Faculty of Political Science, full professor at the Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade. Sokić was the director of the Institute for Political Studies and the managing director of the Copper and Aluminum Rolling Mill in Sevojno.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is a department of the Government of Syria that is responsible for maintaining and implementing government policies in higher education in Syria.
