The Iron Savages are a professional wrestling tag team composed of Bronson and Boulder. The team is currently performing in All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor. [1]
Bear Bronson hails from Upstate New York while Boulder is from New Jersey. The team's identity and original name, Bear Country, have been closely linked to the wilderness surrounding Bronson's place of origin. The two wrestlers first teamed in 2017, making one-off appearances in both Combat Zone Wrestling and Limitless Wrestling. The team then became regular members of Chaotic Wrestling in 2018 and won the Chaotic Wrestling Tag Team Championship later that year. The team joined Beyond Wrestling in 2019 and began to garner greater attention from fans. Notable matches included victories over Santana and Ortiz, the Butcher and the Blade, and the Beaver Boys. In 2019 Bear Country began to travel the United States to appear in various indie promotions. After a stop in Black Label Pro, the team became tag team champions in Xtreme Wrestling Alliance. Finally, the duo returned to CZW for a full-time stint.
Bear Bronson made an appearance for WWE in December 2019, under the disguise of Santa Claus, winning the WWE 24/7 Championship from Akira Tozawa, before immediately losing it to R-Truth. The skit was recorded on December 22, 2019, and was broadcast during Raw the following day. [2]
Bear Country debuted in All Elite Wrestling on an episode of AEW Dark in December 2020. Despite a dominant performance, the duo ultimately fell to Stu Grayson and Evil Uno of the Dark Order. The following week Bronson and Boulder appeared on Dark again, this time facing future AEW Tag Team champions Jurassic Express. [1] In May 2021 the team was officially signed to the AEW roster. [3] [4] In 2021 Bronson and Boulder confessed that they considered splitting up for a while before joining AEW, but said the passion returned immediately following their debut in the promotion. AEW founder Tony Khan has credited MJF with pushing him to sign the duo. [5]
In 2021 Boulder sustained an injury that kept the team inactive for most of the year. [5] On August 22, 2022 AEW filed a trademark for a new name. The newly-named "Iron Savages" debuted the following day, again on AEW Dark. [6] That night, which included a victory over Vary Morales and Levis Valenzuela, the team also introduced their new manager, JT Davidson. [7] [8] Later that year, The Iron Savages were named the 76th top tag team in the world in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's yearly rankings. [9] In May 2023 the Iron Savages debuted in AEW's partner promotion Ring of Honor. During the team's match against Peter Avalon and Ryan Nemeth of The Wingmen, the Iron Savages were escorted to the ring by apparent new member Jacked Jameson. The Iron Savages went on to win the match. As described by Bleacher Report, Boulder and Bronson "didn't completely squash them, but it was close to being that way". [10] The following month the duo and Jameson challenged the Mogul Embassy for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. [11] After losing the contest, Boulder and Bronson challenged Aussie Open for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, [12] ultimately losing the match on August 3, 2023. [13] The duo made their premier on regular AEW programming on August 12, 2023 on AEW Collision . After controlling much of the match, they fell to The Acclaimed as part of the Billy Gunn retirement storyline. [14] The team appeared on Collision again the following week, being joined by Jacked Jameson in a trios match against Juice Robinson and The Gunns. Despite another entertaining and praise-worthy performance, the Iron Savages lost the match. [15]
