The Campionato Italiano Rally (CIR) or Italian Rally Championship is the main rally championship, which takes place in Italy. It organized by ACI Sport. [1]

Contents

As of 2017, the championship consists of eight rallies, [2] all which take place on asphalt and gravel, and includes one of the oldest rallies in the world, the Rally Targa Florio, which was first run in 1906. [3]

Any cars can be entered, except those that are used in the WRC. Super 2000 four-wheel drive cars with engines up to 2000cc, Group N cars, and Super 1600 cars are all allowed.

Endurance racing is a form of motorsport racing which is meant to test the durability of equipment and endurance of participants. Teams of multiple drivers attempt to cover a large distance in a single event, with participants given a break with the ability to change during the race. Endurance races can be run either to cover a set distance in laps as quickly as possible, or to cover as much distance as possible over a preset amount of time.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Targa Florio</span> Open road endurance automobile race

The Targa Florio was a public road endurance automobile race held in the mountains of Sicily near the island's capital of Palermo. Founded in 1906, it was the oldest sports car racing event, part of the World Sportscar Championship between 1955 and 1973. While the first races consisted of a whole tour of the island, the track length in the race's last decades was limited to the 72 km (45 mi) of the Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie, which was lapped 11 times.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Circuito delle Madonie</span> Motorsport venue in Italy

The Circuito delle Madonie was a road racing course made up of public roads, situated on the Italian island of Sicily, near the capital of Palermo, which hosted the famous Targa Florio event, between 1906 and 1977. The original public roads are still used today for the Targa Florio Rally successor event, which has been held since 1978. The course was made up of three different circuit length variations; the 72.00 km (44.74 mi) Piccolo short/small circuit, the slightly larger 108.0 km (67.1 mi) Medio medium circuit, and the full 148.821 km (92.473 mi) Grande circuit.

Throughout its history, the Italian auto manufacturer Maserati has participated in various forms of motorsports including Formula One, sportscar racing and touring car racing, both as a works team and through private entrants.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Craig Breen</span> Irish rally driver (1990–2023)

Craig Breen was an Irish rally driver who last competed part time for the Hyundai team in the World Rally Championship (WRC). He won the 2012 Super 2000 WRC, scoring class wins in the Monte Carlo Rally, Wales Rally GB, Rally France and the Rally of Spain. Breen won the WRC Academy Cup in 2011, winning his first event at the 2011 Rallye Deutschland and sealing the championship with a win at Wales Rally GB. The Academy title going down to the last stage, with Breen and Estonian rally driver Egon Kaur ending the season, both on 111 points, Breen then won the title on count back of stage wins, 39 to 14. Breen won the 2021 Rentokil Historic Rally in Killarney, Kerry, Ireland in his BMW M3 E30.

Mahindra Racing is a motor racing team based in Banbury, United Kingdom, competing with an Indian racing licence. The team is currently competing in the electric FIA Formula E Championship since the inaugural season in 2014. The team formerly competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, fielding a team in the junior 125cc category between 2011 and 2015. Mahindra later refocused on being a bike and engine supplier, until ultimately pulling out of the sport in 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">1970 Targa Florio</span>

The 1970 Targa Florio was an endurance race that took place on 3 May 1970. It was held on a 44.6 mi (71.8 km) anti-clockwise circuit made up entirely of public roads on the mountainous Italian island of Sicily. It was the fifth round of the 1970 International Championship for Makes.

The 2016 Italian Touring Car Championship is the second season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 30th season since a national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo. Starting from this year, the championship takes place of Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance and it will be divided into TCR and TCS class. The latter will include cars between 1.400 and 2.000cc, nearer to the production series.

The 44° Targa Florio took place on 8 May 1960, on the Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie,. It was the third round of the F.I.A. World Sports Car Championship.

The Italian Athletics Championships are the national championships for clubs of athletics, organised by the Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera (FIDAL), that assign every year a scudetto from 1931 (men) and from 1939 (women).

The 2019 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship will be the fifth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 33rd season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo. The series will begin at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in April and conclude at the same track in October.

The 2020 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship will be the sixth season of the ITCC to run under TCR regulations and the 34rd season since the national touring car series was revived in 1987 as the Campionato Italiano Turismo.

The 51° Targa Florio was a motor race which took place on 14 May 1967, on the Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie, Sicily (Italy). The race, which open to Prototypes, Sports Cars and Grand Touring Cars, was the fifth round of both the 1967 International Championship for Sports-Prototypes and the 1967 International Championship for Sports Cars.

Matteo Lamberti is an Italian competitive swimmer. He competed at the 2019 World University Games, placing fourth in the 800 metre freestyle and fifth in the 1500 metre freestyle. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships he placed fourth in the 4×200 metre freestyle relay, swimming the anchor leg of the relay in the prelims heats.
