According to the Oromia Regional government, this town currently has telephone and postal service, and is supplied with electricity from a nearby hydroelectric source.[2]Nordic Africa Institute records a junior secondary school in Iteya in 1968.[1]
Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Iteya has an estimated total population of 12,979 of whom 6,418 are men and 6,561 are women.[3] The 1994 national census reported this town had a total population of 7260 of whom 3,481 were men and 3,779 were women.
Asella also called Asallaa, is a town located in the Arsi Zone of Oromia Regional State about 159 kilometers from Addis Ababa, this city has a latitude and longitude of 7°57′N39°7′E, with an elevation of 2,430 meters. Asalla hosts an Asella Airport. Asalla was the capital of Arsi Province until that province was demoted to a Zone of Oromia with the adoption of the 1995 Constitution. It retains some administrative functions as the seat of the present Arsi Zone.
