Ithaca College is a private college in Ithaca, New York. It was founded by William Egbert in 1892 as a conservatory of music and is set against the backdrop of the city of Ithaca, outside Cayuga Lake, waterfalls, and gorges.
The State University of New York at Cortland is a public college in Cortland, New York. It was founded in 1868 and is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
The Cortaca Jug is the trophy given to the annual college football game played between the Red Dragons of the State University of New York College at Cortland and the Bombers of Ithaca College. The match-up is one of the most prominent in NCAA Division III football. The Cortaca game typically sells out, with thousands of fans packed into the stadium.
The Empire 8 (E8) is an intercollegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division III. The E8 sponsors intercollegiate athletic competition in men's baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, women's field hockey, men's football, men's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, women's softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and women's volleyball. The E8 shares offices with the United Volleyball Conference, a separate Division III league that competes solely in men's volleyball.
Phillip James Butterfield Jr. was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Ithaca College from 1967 to 1993. During his 28 seasons at Ithaca, Butterfield was one of the most successful coaches in the country winning 206 games and three NCAA Division III Football Championships. His teams finished as the runner-up in the Stagg Bowl four times. His total playoff record was 21–8.
WICB is a radio station licensed to serve Ithaca, New York, United States. Established in 1941 and receiving its FCC license in 1948, the station is owned by Ithaca College.

The 1915 Cornell Big Red football team was an American football team that represented Cornell University as an independent during the 1915 college football season. In its fourth season under head coach Albert Sharpe, the Big Red compiled a 9–0 record, shut out four of nine opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 287 to 50. The 1915 team was known as The Big Red Machine, defeating every opponent by more than a touchdown.

In their 13th season under head coach Jim Butterfield, the Bombers compiled an 11–2 record and won the NCAA Division III championship.
The 1988 Ithaca Bombers football team represented Ithaca College as a member of the Independent College Athletic Conference (ICAC) during the 1988 NCAA Division III football season. In their 22nd season under head coach Jim Butterfield, the Bombers compiled an 13–1 record and won the NCAA Division III championship, defeating Central (Iowa) in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl.
The 1991 Ithaca Bombers football team represented Ithaca College as an independent during the 1991 NCAA Division III football season. In their 22nd season under head coach Jim Butterfield, the Bombers compiled a 12–1 record. The team's only loss was to Division II Springfield. The team participated in the NCAA Division III playoffs, defeating Glassboro State in the first round, Union in the quarterfinals, Susquehanna in the semifinals, and Dayton in the Stagg Bowl to win the Division III national championship.
Michael Fredericks Toerper is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for Ithaca College, a position he has held since 2022.
