Jordan Andrew "J. J." Perry is an American action director, martial artist, actor, and stuntman.
Perry began practicing martial arts training in 1975, at the age of eight. [1] Because his mother was not able to afford her son's lessons, he cleaned a martial arts school, and received lessons in trade. [2] He began performing stunt work in the late 1980s after leaving the military.[ citation needed ]
Perry was a fourth-degree black belt in taekwondo by 1993. [2]
He began his acting career when he did stunt work for the character of Johnny Cage in the first Mortal Kombat film. He then played Scorpion, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat Annihilation (Chris Casamassa was supposed to reprise as Scorpion but was working on the film Batman & Robin , though he would return in Conquest), and appeared in the MK: Conquest TV series, this time as Scorpion's main rival Sub-Zero, in addition to doing stuntwork for the main character of Kung Lao. In addition to the Mortal Kombat series, Perry has done stuntwork for various television shows and movies such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer , The Scorpion King , 24 , Beowulf and The Town as FBI Swat 2. He was a member of the cast of the 2004 movie Sunland Heat, and part of the stunt team for the 2006 fighting movie Ultraviolet . [3] [4]
Perry shared in the Male Stuntman of the Year Award at the 2004 World Stunt Awards for his work in the 2003 action comedy film The Rundown . [5] He was also voted 2012 Stunt Coordinator of the Year [6] at the short-lived (2010-2012) ActionFest action movie festival (founded by Chuck Norris's stunt double, director, and younger brother Aaron Norris).
In May 2023, Perry was announced to direct a film adaptation of Jay Bonansinga's novel The Killer's Game. [7]

Mortal Kombat Annihilation is a 1997 American martial arts fantasy film directed by John R. Leonetti in his directorial debut. Based on the Mortal Kombat video game franchise, it is the second installment in the Mortal Kombat film series and a sequel to the original 1995 film, on which Leonetti served as cinematographer. Largely adapted from the 1995 video game Mortal Kombat 3, Annihilation follows Liu Kang and his allies as they attempt to prevent the malevolent Shao Kahn from conquering Earthrealm. It stars Robin Shou as Liu Kang, Talisa Soto as Kitana, James Remar as Raiden, Sandra Hess as Sonya Blade, Lynn “Red” Williams as Jax and Brian Thompson as Shao Kahn. Only Shou and Soto reprised their roles, with the other characters from the previous film being recast.

Sub-Zero is the alias used by two fictional characters in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. Both incarnations of Sub-Zero are ninja warriors of the Lin Kuei clan, principally defined by their blue attire and ability to control ice in many forms. Sub-Zero is the only Mortal Kombat character that appears in every main installment of the series, in addition to being featured as the protagonist of the 1997 spin-off Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
Johnny Cage is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. Introduced in the original 1992 game, he is an action movie star with an extensive martial arts background. The series depicts Cage as one of the primary heroes defending Earthrealm from various threats, as well as the comic foil. In the rebooted timeline, Cage is also the love interest to Special Forces officer Sonya Blade and the father of their daughter Cassie. He is inspired by martial arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme, particularly Van Damme's character, Frank Dux, in the 1988 film Bloodsport. Mortal Kombat is a 1995 American fantasy action film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and written by Kevin Droney. Shou Wan-por, known professionally as Robin Shou, is a Hong Kong-American actor, martial artist and stuntman. Born in British Hong Kong but raised in Los Angeles, Shou's interest in martial arts developed during his years as a University student. This led him to win several championships as a martial artist, both in China and the United States. He entered the Hong Kong film industry as a stuntman in the late 1980's, and went on to star in films such as City War (1988), opposite Chow Yun-Fat, Tiger Cage 2 (1990), opposite Donnie Yen, and Bloody Mary Killer (1993), alongside Cynthia Rothrock.
Michael Jai White is an American actor. ActionFest was an annual film festival in Asheville, NC, started by Carolina Cinemas and Magnolia Pictures founder Bill Banowsky and action director/producer Aaron Norris, along with Dennis Berman and Tom Quinn. ActionFest was the first film festival in the world devoted exclusively to action film. It was also the only film festival in the world that honoring stunt performers, filling a void caused by the decision of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences not to recognize stunt men and stunt women in its Academy Awards. ActionFest's stated mission was to "recognize, honor and appreciate the remarkable efforts of these amazing people who risk their lives every day to make Hollywood films look exciting and great."
