Oakland Raiders
Grove was drafted in the second round (45th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, through a pick that was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for Jon Gruden, where he played from 2004 to 2008. [2] After being the reserve center behind Adam Treu as a rookie, Grove split time with him as the starting center during the 2005 NFL season, in which the Raiders had a 4-12 won-lost record, then won the job the following year, the 7th starting center in Raider history, starting all 16 games, when Treu became his replacement for a 2-14 team. But in the 2007 NFL season, Jeremy Newberry became the starting center, as Grove started only two games for the 4-12 team. He got his job back in the 2008 NFL season, starting in 12 games, though the team's fortune stayed poor with a 5-11 record. His Oakland tenure was hampered by injuries, [3] and he only played in more than 10 games twice during his six seasons in Oakland. [4]
Miami Dolphins
On March 2, 2009, Grove signed a five-year, $29 million ($14.5 million guaranteed) free agent contract with the Miami Dolphins. The previous starting center for the Dolphins, Samson Satele, was traded to Grove's old team, the Raiders. Grove suffered through another injury plagued year, playing in 12 games, starting 10 of them. In the 2010 preseason, he suffered from nagging knee and shoulder injuries, and was cut by the Dolphins less than a year after signing his lucrative free agent contract [5] in favor of Joe Berger. He reportedly worked out for the Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, and New England Patriots, but did not sign with another team. [6]
Zachary Michael Thomas is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. He played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and was recognized as a unanimous All-American. He was selected in the fifth round, 22nd pick, in the 1996 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins, and played for the Dolphins in his first 12 seasons in the NFL, before playing his 13th and final season with the Dallas Cowboys.
Gibril Donald Wilson is a former American football safety in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Tennessee.
Joseph David Berger is an American former professional football player who was a guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan Tech.
Adam R. Treu is an American former professional football player who was a center for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, joining as a walk-on after playing at Pius X High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. He won back-to-back national championships with the Cornhuskers in 1994 and 1995 playing left tackle and performing all the long snapping duties. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft.
Ernest Lee Wilford, Jr. is a former American football wide receiver. He was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech. He is currently a sheriffs deputy with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Marco Darnell Coleman is an American football coach and former player who is the defensive line coach for Georgia Tech and former assistant defensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). A former American football defensive end, the fourteen-year veteran originally was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 1992 NFL Draft as a first round pick. He played at Georgia Tech and won the 1990 college football national championship and went to one Pro Bowl before retiring from professional football after the 2005 season.
Barret Glenn Robbins is an American former professional football player who was a center for nine seasons with the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for the TCU Horned Frogs, he was taken by the Raiders in the second round of the 1995 NFL draft. He was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2002. He was the leader of the Raiders offensive line that led them to Super Bowl XXXVII.
Kevin Darnell Vickerson is a former American football defensive end. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan State.
Samson H. Satele is a former American football center. He played college football at Hawaii and was drafted in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.
Brandon Lee Frye is a former American football offensive tackle. He was selected by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech.
The Virginia Tech Hokies football team represents Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the sport of American football. The Hokies compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Lane Stadium is considered to be one of the loudest stadiums in the country, being voted number two in ESPN's 2007 "Top 20 Scariest Places to Play". It was also recognized in 2005 by Rivals.com as having the best home-field advantage in the country.
Justin Daniel Walton is a former American football center. He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft and was also a member of the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers. He played college football at Baylor.
Stefen David Wisniewski is a former American football guard and center. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Logan Lamont Thomas Sr. is an American football tight end who is a free agent. He was the starting quarterback while playing college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies in the early 2010s, where he finished as the school's all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns before being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft.
Bruce Pernell Irvin Jr. is an American football linebacker who is a free agent. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round with the 15th overall pick of the 2012 NFL draft. Irvin won Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos, and also played in Super Bowl XLIX where he became the first player ever to be ejected from a Super Bowl. He played college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Kendall Christopher Fuller is an American football cornerback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Virginia Tech and was selected by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft. Fuller also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, recording a game-sealing interception in Super Bowl LIV.
Clive Walford is a former American football tight end. He played college football for the University of Miami and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
