Air Vanuatu is an airline with its head office in Air Vanuatu House, Port Vila, Vanuatu. It is Vanuatu's national flag carrier, operating to Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and points in the South Pacific. Its main base is Bauerfield International Airport, Port Vila. In May 2024 the airline was placed into voluntary administration by the Government of Vanuatu.

The number "72" in its name is derived from the aircraft's typical standard seating capacity of 72 passengers.
The ATR 42 is a regional airliner produced by Franco-Italian manufacturer ATR, with final assembly in Toulouse, France. On 4 November 1981, the aircraft was launched with ATR, as a joint venture between French Aérospatiale and Aeritalia . The ATR 42-300 performed its maiden flight on 16 August 1984 and type certification was granted during September 1985. Launch customer Air Littoral operated its first revenue-earning flight in December of that year.

The airline was a member of the European Regions Airline Association. Finncomm Airlines was the largest domestic air carrier in Finland in terms of number of flights.

The airline operates out of Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar as well as several other airports around Indonesia. The company was established as a short-haul regional flight service, wholly owned subsidiary of Lion Air and started operations on July 10, 2003 and the airline is currently linking tier-two and tier-three cities in Indonesia as to bypass the airline's congested base in Jakarta.
UTair Express was a Russian regional airline headquartered in Syktyvkar, Komi, and a subsidiary of UTair Aviation. Its main base was Syktyvkar Airport. It ceased operations on 10 June 2015.
Kadapa Airport is a domestic airport serving Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located 12 km (7.5 mi) from the city, and is spread over 669.5 acres (270.9 ha) of land. It has been upgraded at a cost of ₹ 42 crore. The upgraded airport was inaugurated on 7 June 2015 by the then Minister of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi Raju. The terminal building has a capacity to handle 100 peak hour passengers at a time and the apron can accommodate seven ATR-72 type aircraft.
Daporijo Airport is located at Daporijo in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India. Daporijo used to have scheduled services in the 1980s and early 1990s from Vayudoot. The airport had flights to Guwahati and Dibrugarh on Dornier 228 aircraft. Currently, there is no scheduled commercial air service to the airport, although the airport is used by the Indian Army. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) plans to develop the airport for operation of ATR-42/ATR-72 type of aircraft.
Jagdalpur Airport, also known as Maa Danteswari Airport, is a domestic airport serving the city of Jagdalpur in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) conducted a pre-feasibility study in July 2013 for development of the airport and approved of operations of aircraft under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) conditions. The airport was chosen for an upgrade under the Government's UDAN scheme and the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a terminal building was performed in January 2017. It was upgraded to 3C category in 2019, allowing the operations of ATR-72 type of aircraft. On 21 September 2020, Alliance Air started flights to Hyderabad and Raipur using an ATR-72 aircraft. The airport's name was changed on 21 September 2020.

It is a major contract carrier for FedEx Express, operating in the eastern United States and the Caribbean region. Previous turboprop operations in South America have been discontinued by FedEx, which now operates jet aircraft in that area. MAC is one of the largest feeder airlines in the United States. Its main maintenance facility is at Kinston Regional Jetport. All of the ATR, C208, and C408 aircraft operated by Mountain Air are owned by FedEx Express, and are operated by MAC on a "dry lease" basis.

Kamalpur Airport is a small airport located in Kamalpur, Tripura, India. The airport is spread over an approximately 61 acre area. It is managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and is non-operational. AAI plans to develop the airport for operation of ATR-42 and ATR-72 type of aircraft.
The 2016 Halim Airport collision occurred when Batik Air Flight 7703, a scheduled domestic flight operated by Lion Air's subsidiary Batik Air, collided during its take-off roll with a TransNusa Air Services aircraft, which was being towed across the runway. Batik Air Flight 7703 was operating from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar. On 4 April 2016, while taking off from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, the Boeing 737-800 operating the flight collided with a ATR 42-600.
