Jason Dundas (born 25 July 1982) is an Australian-born television presenter, actor, producer and director, known for his roles as special correspondent for CBS's Entertainment Tonight , [1] [2] [3] the host of The X Factor Australia [4] [5] in 2016, host of America's Best Dance Crew [6] [7] [8] on MTV, VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live, travel series Getaway [9] [10] in Australia, and the founder and director of Dundas Media.

Personal life

Dundas was born in Penrith, Sydney, to Ross Dundas and Diane Dundas.

He attended Jamison High School, and later went on to study at the School of Communication Arts at the University of Western Sydney where he studied a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication).

He won a contest to be the host of MTV [11] [12] Australia in 2003, after creating his own DIY video audition from his bedroom at 19 years old.

Dundas is married to Tayler Blackman.

Production

Dundas Media

After studying graphic design at Sydney's School of Design, Dundas sold his first TV show to MTV when he was 21-years-old. He currently runs a Hollywood-based video [21] [22] production company, Dundas Media. [23]

In 2019 Dundas created the weekly entertainment TV show The Watchlist [24] from LA for Foxtel Australia. He is the show's executive producer, co-writer and host with the series currently in its fourth season with over 700 short-form episodes.[ citation needed ]

Entrepreneur

Dundas Fit

As an entrepreneur, Dundas became the second men's ambassador [25] [26] of Australian department store David Jones. In this role, he fronted fashion campaigns Miranda Kerr and Jessica Gomes, [27] starred in and produced video series, and developed his own activewear brand DundasFit, sold in 35 stores in Australia.

In 2010, the Seven Network won the rights to the show, and a second season went into production. The X Factor was renewed after the highly successful Australian Idol was no longer broadcast on Network Ten. The X Factor was produced by FremantleMedia Australia, and was broadcast on the Seven Network in Australia and on TV3 in New Zealand. The program was cancelled after its eighth season in 2016.

Total Request Live is an Australian television program based on the American program of the same name broadcast on MTV that features popular music. It premiered in early April 2004 as a weekend show produced on a large cruising vessel known as The Pontoon, dubbed the "MTV Cruiser" which floated around Sydney Harbour containing the audience, performing bands and VJs. Australian band Killing Heidi were the first to perform on the show. After the summer months TRL Australia was broadcast from various venues around Sydney before moving into a studio with a live audience. The show is now live on Tuesday to Thursday and then TRL Weekend on Friday, each day from 5pm to 6pm EST. The show was originally hosted by Kyle Sandilands, Maz Compton and Jason Dundas and simulcast on 2Day FM. Kyle withdrew from hosting duties during 2005, leaving the hosting of TRL Australia to Maz Compton, Lyndsey Rodrigues, Nathan Sapsford and Jason Robert Dundas.

America's Best Dance Crew All-Stars: Road to the VMAs was the eighth season of the competitive dance reality television series America's Best Dance Crew. The revival of the series was announced by MTV on January 10, 2015, following the show's cancellation in 2012. The season, which premiered on July 29, 2015, was hosted by television presenter Jason Dundas. The season consisted of six MTV Video Music Award–themed episodes; the winner was crowned in a live episode finale airing before the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Hip hop artist T-Pain, recording artist Teyana Taylor, and Broadway performer Frankie Grande formed the new judging panel.

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has been featured in twenty-one music videos, one film, among various appearances in other audiovisual productions. In 2011, Azalea uploaded on YouTube her debut music video for "Pu$$y," a song from her debut mixtape, Ignorant Art, where it subsequently went viral, helping to propel the rapper to prominence, after previously sharing home videos as an underground rapper. She released two more videos from the project in following months, "My World" and "The Last Song." In 2012, she aligned herself with Southern rapper T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint. He was then featured on "Murda Bizness," taken from her Glory EP, also appearing in the visuals, marking the beginning of multiple collaborations between the two. <i>The X Factor</i> (Australian season 8) Season of television series

The X Factor was an Australian television reality music competition, based on the original British version, to find new singing talent; the winner of which received a Sony Music Australia recording contract. The eighth season, branded as X Factor: Next Generation, premiered on Seven Network on 3 October 2016. Jason Dundas replaced Luke Jacobz as host; with the judging panel consisting of Mel B, Guy Sebastian, Iggy Azalea and Adam Lambert. The winner was Isaiah Firebrace and his winner's single "It's Gotta Be You" was released after the final. He was mentored by Lambert, who won as mentor for the first and only time.
