Jason Kimball Peterson (born November 1, 1981) is a media mogul, [2] attorney, producer, entrepreneur, founder and chairman of GoDigital Media Group. [3] In 2009, he was named one of the "Top 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30" by the Los Angeles Business Journal . [4] [5] From 2017 to 2021, he was named as a "Top 40 under 40 Power Player" in music and home entertainment by both Billboard magazine and Media Play News, respectively. [6] [7] [8] [9] From 2019 through 2022, he was named to Billboard's music industry "Indie Power Players List" and "Latin Power Players List" for managing Daddy Yankee's rights and buying Latino digital media company Mitú, respectively. [10] [11] [12]

Peterson has worked with artists including Daddy Yankee, [13] Janet Jackson, [14] Jason Derulo, [15] and T.I. [16]

Jason has served as a director for major music distributor MERLIN [17] [18] as well as the American Association of Independent Music (A2iM), [19] the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN), [20] the Repertoire Data Exchange (RDx) a joint venture between WIN and IFPI creating a global recorded music data exchange, [21] [22] the Music Business Association, [23] OTT.x [24] the trade association for the home entertainment industry, and the Music, Film and Entertainment Executive Board at City of Hope Hospital in Los Angeles. [25]

Peterson was an owner of Symbolic Entertainment, located in Marina del Rey, California, [26] [27] where he produced movies, commercials and music videos. At 19 years old he produced The Beat, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2003. [27] [28] Peterson earned his bachelor's degree from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (2004) and holds a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law (2007). [27] He is an active member of the California Bar Association. [29]

It was founded in 2007 with Charles Caldas as the chief executive. In January 2020, Jeremy Sirota stepped into the role of Merlin CEO. The company is a member-based organization representing the digital licensing rights for hundreds of independent labels and distributors in nearly every country around the globe. As of 2019, Merlin has paid out over two billion dollars.

CEO Jason Peterson's “Content is King” philosophy for GoDigital closely resembles that of Sumner Redstone, the 80's media mogul that grew his father's drive-in theater business into a content-centric empire that included Viacom, Paramount Pictures and CBS.

MNRK Music Group is a New York City-based independent record label and music management company. It was formed in 2009 from the music assets of Koch Entertainment, which had been acquired by the present-day Entertainment One (eOne) in 2004. In April 2021, after the acquisition of eOne by Hasbro, the company announced that it would sell eOne Music to The Blackstone Group.
