Jay Philip Goede (born November 2, 1963) [1] is an American actor best known for his stage roles on Broadway in New York City.

Career

Goede appeared on Broadway in the original productions of Angels in America (1993) Sex and Longing (opposite Sigourney Weaver) (1995) A Year with Frog and Toad (2003), and with Valerie Harper in Looped (2009). [2] Other stage credits include the Broadway production of The Play's the Thing (1995), [3] the off-Broadway production of The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told (1998), Miracle Brothers (2005) and the 1999 national tour of Cabaret . In 2006, Goede played the title character in the musical How the Grinch Stole Christmas! at the Old Globe in San Diego, California. [4]

Goede has played several minor roles on television. He is also credited (under the name Philip Bartlett) as the voice of Mewtwo in the English dub of Pokémon: The First Movie . However, his real name is given in the brochure for Pokémon Live! where he did the vocals for Mewtwo's surprise cameo.

Education

Goede received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. [5] [6] He then earned a Master in Fine Arts in 1991 from the Yale School of Drama, where he studied with acting teacher Earle Gister among others. [7] [8]

Teaching

Goede has been a visiting instructor at the University of Minnesota (2006), [6] the University of Miami (2009), [9] [10] and the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

Valerie Kathryn Harper was an American actress. She began her career as a dancer on Broadway, making her debut as a replacement in the musical Li'l Abner. She is best remembered for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970–1977) and its spinoff Rhoda (1974–1978). For her work on Mary Tyler Moore, she thrice received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and later received the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Rhoda. From 1986 to 1987, she appeared as Valerie Hogan on the sitcom Valerie, which she subsequently left for salary reasons. Her character was killed off, and the show was retitled Valerie's Family and eventually The Hogan Family. Actress Sandy Duncan was cast in a new role that served as a replacement for Harper's character. Her film appearances include roles in Freebie and the Bean (1974) and Chapter Two (1979), both of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nominations. She returned to stage work in her later career, appearing in several Broadway productions. In 2010, she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance as Tallulah Bankhead in the play Looped.

Mew (<i>Pokémon</i>) Fictional Pokémon species

Mew is one of the fictional species from the Pokémon franchise. It is a small, pink, Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon, it was added to Pokémon Red and Blue by Game Freak programmer Shigeki Morimoto, with the intent of making it obtainable, but was ultimately left out for development and technical reasons. After being discovered through data mining, its presence in the games was surrounded by many rumors and myths, which would end up contributing to the Pokémon franchise's success. For years, Mew was legitimately unobtainable in the games except some specific Pokémon distribution events or glitching.
