Adrian Constantine Anson,nicknamed "Cap" and "Pop",was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) first baseman. Including his time in the National Association (NA),he played a record 27 consecutive seasons. Anson was regarded as one of the greatest players of his era and one of the first superstars of the game. He spent most of his career with the Chicago Cubs franchise,serving as the club's manager,first baseman and,later in his tenure,minority owner. He led the team to six National League pennants in the 1880s. Anson was one of baseball's first great hitters,and probably the first to tally over 3,000 career hits. In addition to being a star player,he innovated managerial tactics such as signals between players and the rotation of pitchers.
James Edward Ryan,nicknamed "Pony",was an American center fielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played between 1885 and 1903,primarily for the Chicago White Stockings / Colts / Orphans. He batted .300 eleven times,retiring with a career average of .308,and was the seventh player to hit 100 career home runs. Ryan set major league records for career games (1,945) and assists (375) as an outfielder that were later broken by Jesse Burkett and Tris Speaker respectively. He also ended his career ranking second in putouts (3,701) and fourth in double plays (71).

"Oyster" Burns was an American professional baseball player whose career spanned 15 seasons,11 of which were spent with the Major League Baseball (MLB) Wilmington Quicksteps (1884),Baltimore Orioles,Brooklyn Bridegrooms (1888–1895),and New York Giants (1895). Burns,who predominately played as an outfielder,also played as a shortstop,second baseman,third baseman,and pitcher. Over his career,Burns compiled a career batting average of .300 with 870 runs scored,1,392 hits,224 doubles,129 triples,65 home runs,and 834 runs batted in (RBI) in 1,188 games played. Although the majority of his career was spent in the major leagues,Burns also played in minor league baseball. He made his MLB debut at the age of 19 and was listed as standing 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm) and weighing 183 pounds (83 kg).

Oscar E. "Reddy" Foster was a Major League Baseball (MLB) player for the New York Giants in 1896. His only MLB appearance was on June 3 of that season. He primarily played catcher in his minor league career,which spanned 17 seasons. Foster was a manager as well. He was known for his fiery temper and his heavy drinking. Foster died on December 19,1908,when he deliberately shot himself in the head with a shotgun.
