Jim Heffernan is a former NCAA wrestling champion and former wrestling coach at the University of Illinois.

High school career

Heffernan was a two-time OHSAA state champion and three-time state placer at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. [1] [2]

College career

At the University of Iowa he was a national champion, a two-time national runner-up, and a four-time All-American. [3] [4] He won the NCAA national championship during his junior year. [5]

Coaching career

Heffernan spent 19 years as an assistant at the University of Illinois, 2 years at Oregon State University, and 2 years at Lehigh University. [6] In 1995, 2001, and 2003 he was named national assistant coach of the year. [7] In 2009, Heffernan became the head wrestling coach at the University of Illinois.

James (Jim) Zalesky is an American college wrestling coach and is currently the head coach of the University of Jamestown. He was the former head wrestling coach for the Oregon State Beavers. Prior to joining the Beavers, he was the coach of the University of Iowa wrestling team from 1998 to 2006. At Iowa, he succeeded Dan Gable as head coach, under whom he was a three-time NCAA champion. As head coach for Iowa, he guided the Hawkeyes to three NCAA team championships in 1998, 1999, and 2000. In 2004, he was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member.

The University of Iowa men's wrestling program is one of the most successful NCAA Division I athletic programs. The Hawkeyes are 37 time Big Ten Conference champions and second in NCAA history with 24 National Championships.

The Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team is part of the University of Iowa athletics department.

Pittsburgh Panthers wrestling is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate wrestling program of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Pitt wrestling team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and hosts home meets at Fitzgerald Field House on the campus of the school. Since the Pitt wrestling program began in the 1912–1913 school year, it has produced 17 individual national champions and 82* All-American selections. The Iowa State Cyclones wrestling team represents Iowa State University (ISU) and competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I. The Cyclones are 8 time National Champions, 17 time National Runners-Up, and have 45 Top 4 "Trophy" Finishes. The team is coached by Kevin Dresser. The Cyclones host their home meets at Hilton Coliseum on Iowa State's campus. Iowa State became the second collegiate wrestling program to reach 1,100 dual wins on January 23, 2022.

The Cornell Big Red wrestling team represents Cornell University of Ithaca, New York in collegiate wrestling. It is one of the most successful and storied collegiate wrestling programs in the nation with over 20 individual NCAA champions, 43 Ivy League championships, and 28 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association championships since the program's 1907 founding.

Zabriskie wrestled for the Iowa State Cyclones and is a three-time Big 12 Conference champion, three-time All-American in NCAA Division I collegiate wrestling, and won the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in the 285lb weight class in 2010.

Travis Fiser is an American high school wrestling coach and former collegiate wrestler. He is the head coach at Grundy High School, Grundy, Virginia, and a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
