Junior Choi, known as Jnr Choi (born 20 May 1999) is a Gambian-British rapper, singer-songwriter and model based in London, United Kingdom. He rose to prominence with his 2021 single "To the Moon", which gained popularity on TikTok and charted worldwide, including peaking at #38 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the US Rhythmic chart. Early life

Jnr Choi was born in The Gambia and relocated to Thamesmead, South-East London where he grew up, before relocating to Essex to pursue a career in modelling. [5]

Modelling career

Choi started his career as a model where he worked for companies like Givenchy, Philipp Plein, AMIRI and Marcelo Burlon. [6]

Musical career

After modelling for years, Choi piqued an interest in music in 2016 after listening to The Weeknd's 2012 compilation album Trilogy , which was suggested to him by his friend. He became inspired and captivated. [7] [8] He didn't record until 2018, when he released his debut single, "Moves". Since then he has released multiple singles, including "Undress" featuring Mitchy Iris, "BEVEDERE", and "Reality". His debut studio album SS21 was released in 2021. His breakthrough single, "To the Moon", which sampled British singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins's cover of Bruno Mars's 2010 single "Talking to the Moon", was released in October of that year. "To The Moon" was later remixed by Gunna, Fivio Foreign and Russ Millions in 2022. His single "Tick Tock" was released the same year. [9] [10]

It centered in Brooklyn, New York, that began as derivative of the drill music scene in Chicago and later became derivative of UK drill with its 808 percussion and sliding notes by producers from the UK drill scene. Sam Tompkins is a British contemporary R&B Pop singer-songwriter from Eastbourne. His debut EP titled Who Do You Pray To debuted at number 7 on the official UK Album Chart. His single "Lose it All" peaked at #81 on the UK Singles Chart, while his collaboration with JNR Choi titled "To The Moon!" spent 14 weeks on the UK charts, peaking at #48 and reached #1 on both the Rhythmic Airplay and Rap Airplay charts for Billboard in the U.S.

Nikolson Makino is a Filipino rapper. Although he started rapping as a 16-year-old in 2011, Makino rose to popularity with the controversial tracks "Neneng B" and "Lexi" during the COVID-19 pandemic.
