Surf Curse is an American indie surf rock band formed in 2012 in Reno, Nevada, and now based out of Los Angeles. Written alongside producer OZ, it was released as the lead single on April 3, 2020, through Republic and OVO. The song is titled after social media influencer, Toosii, who had previously helped the song go viral. A video was released alongside the song, showing Drake quarantined, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also demonstrates the Toosie Slide dance in his Toronto mansion. The song debuted at number eighteen on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 before debuting at number one on the main Billboard Hot 100 chart the next week, making Drake the first male artist to accomplish three number-one debuts.

The song was written by Pop Smoke, alongside producer IAmTash, with additional writing credits going to Elgin Lumpkin (Ginuwine) and Troy Oliver for the interpolation and sampling of Ginuwine's "Differences". The song was released as the fifth single from the album on October 9, 2020, by Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. An R&B track, it lyrically showcases Pop Smoke singing about his passion for his lover. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, with a number of them praising the lyrics and the rapper's range.
Brooklyn drill is a regional subgenre of drill music, which is a subgenre of rap music. It centered in Brooklyn, New York, that began as derivative of the drill music scene in Chicago and later became derivative of UK drill with its 808 percussion and sliding notes by producers from the UK drill scene. Brooklyn drill emerged around 2014 with the single "Hot Nigga" from the rapper Bobby Shmurda. Other early contributors were Rowdy Rebel, Bam Bino, Money Millz, Dah Dah and Curly Savv.

Sam Tompkins is a British contemporary R&B Pop singer-songwriter from Eastbourne. His debut EP titled Who Do You Pray To debuted at number 7 on the official UK Album Chart. His single "Lose it All" peaked at #81 on the UK Singles Chart, while his collaboration with JNR Choi titled "To The Moon!" spent 14 weeks on the UK charts, peaking at #48 and reached #1 on both the Rhythmic Airplay and Rap Airplay charts for Billboard in the U.S.
"Handsomer" is a song by American rapper Russ. It was released on February 4, 2022, through Russ's Diemon label. The song sees Russ boasting about how his wealth makes him more handsome than he already is. A remix was released on March 9, 2022, featuring rapper Ktlyn's verse, which she had uploaded to the video-sharing app TikTok and went viral.

Nikolson Makino is a Filipino rapper. Although he started rapping as a 16-year-old in 2011, Makino rose to popularity with the controversial tracks "Neneng B" and "Lexi" during the COVID-19 pandemic. After becoming a family man and concerned with his negative influence on children, Makino decided to move away from his sexually explicit lyrics in his debut album Hype One's (2022), a more personal record which explores themes of self-realization, love and friendship. He appeared on the Billboard Philippines Songs chart twice, with the Flow G collaborations "Moon" and "We Made It".
