Jonas Nainys (born June 25, 1983, Birzai, Lithuania), better known by his stage name DJ Jovani, is a Lithuanian music producer, radio and TV host. [1]

Background

Early life and career

Jonas Nainys was born on 25 June 1983 in Birzai. He attended Petras Vileišis school in Pasvalys. He enrolled in Vilnius University Šiauliai Academy and earned a bachelor's degree in Philosophy. In 1998, Nainys made his debut appearance as a DJ at a school event. In 2003, he began performing at several nightclubs. After that, Nainys started his broadcasting career on the popular local radio station, Saulės Radijas. [2]

In 2006, he first gained fame through his appearance in LNK reality show Lith. Ideali pora and won it. [3] [4] Jonas Nainys hosted the Jovani At Club program that focussed on nightlife and nightclub culture. During this program, Jonas interviewed many famous musicians such as Fedde Le Grand, Funkerman, Tiësto, David Guetta, James Zabiela and many others. Soon after, Jonas Nainys landed a job as a host at the radio station ZIP FM. In 2007, he co-founded the Radistai DJs, a musical group and event management firm, with Rolandas Mackeviius. [5] [6]

In 2013, Nainys released the music album On Air, which they recorded in collaboration with Vaidas Baumila, Justinas Jarutis, Linas Adomaitis, and others. It contained a total of 13 dance tracks, and 15,000 copies were sold in Lithuania. Radistai released their second album On Road, after a three-year hiatus, which likewise sold 15,000 copies. One song of this album Good Things was noticed by American record label Warner Music and released under their name. They also started organizing arena events in 2013. [7] [8] In 2017, he nominated for Electronic Act of the Year award at the Music Association Awards of the Year. [9] [10]
Radistai celebrated Christmas 2019 at the Žalgiris Arena. Performers such as Vaidas Baumila, Justinas Jarutis, Mantas Wizard, Donatas Montvydas, Monika Linkytė, Flying Saucer Gang, Mad Money, and many others performed at these events. [11] In 2019, Radistai launched the Inconvenient Questions show (Lith. Nepatogūs klausimai). The show is broadcast by the news portal Delfi.lt and many famous Lithuanian personalities have appeared on the show. [12]

Lithuania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "This Time" written by Vytautas Bikus and Monika Liubinaitė. The song was performed by Monika Linkytė and Vaidas Baumila. The Lithuanian broadcaster Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) organised the national final "Eurovizijos" dainų konkurso nacionalinė atranka in order to select the Lithuanian entry for the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria. The national final took place over eight weeks and involved 12 artists and 12 songs competing in two different competitive streams. The 2016 Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė, also known as KIDY Tour – Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė for sponsorship purposes, was the first edition of the newly formed Lithuanian King Mindaugas Cup. It's managed by the Lithuanian Basketball League and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The competition was held in Vilnius, in the Siemens Arena on February 19–21, 2016.

Basketball is the most popular sport in Lithuania. Lithuanian-American basketball coaches and players in the 1930s helped the Lithuania men's national basketball team win the last EuroBasket tournaments prior to World War II, in 1937 and 1939, causing a massive impact in Lithuanian society and a basketball popularity spike. Since then, despite Lithuania's small size, with a population of just almost 2.9 million, the country's devotion to basketball has made them a traditional force of the sport in Europe.

The 2018 A Lyga was the 29th season of the A Lyga, the top-tier association football league of Lithuania. The season began on 25 February 2018 and ended on 11 November 2018.
