K. Raghupati Bhat (born 24 February 1969) [1] is an Indian politician and a ex member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing the Udupi Assembly constituency. [2]
After delimitation exercise carried out in the year 2008 by Election commission of India, [3] The Udupi assembly constituency number has changed to 120. He was member of Thirteenth Karnataka Legislative Assembly from 30 May 2008 to 5 May 2013 representing Udupi constituency. [4] He was member of Fifteenth Karnataka Legislative Assembly (M.L.A) from Udupi consituency from 2018 to 2023 after defeating Pramod Madhwaraj in the Karnataka state assembly elections held in 2018..He belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He started as a member of BJP. He was elected to Udupi municipal council and he was also the president of district BJP Yuva morcha (Youth wing).[ citation needed ]
Siddaramaiah,also referred to by his nickname Siddu,is an Indian politician who is serving as the 22nd Chief Minister of Karnataka since 2023. He also held that position previously from 2013 to 2018,being only the second person to hold that office for a full five-year term. He belongs to the Indian National Congress and is presently the leader of the Congress Legislative Party. He represented the Varuna Assembly constituency from 2023,previously from 2008 to 2018,Badami Assembly constituency from 2018 to 2023,and from Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency from 2004 to 2007,1994 to 1999 and from 1983 to 1989 in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1996 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2005 while he was a member of the Janata Dal and Janata Dal (Secular). He also served as the Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly on two occasions from 2019 to 2023 and from 2009 to 2013. Siddaramaiah was a member of various Janata Parivar factions for several years.
Udupi district is an administrative subdivision in the Karnataka state of India,with the district headquarters in the city of Udupi. It is situated in the Canara old north malabar coastal region,there are seven taluks,233 villages and 21 towns in Udupi district. The three northern tehsils of Udupi,Kundapur and Karkala,were partitioned from Dakshina Kannada district to form Udupi district on 25 August 1997. Moodabidri was officially declared as new tehsil (taluk),separated from Karkala with effect from 11 January 2018.

Udupi Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka a state in southern India. This constituency was created as part of the implementation of the delimitation of the parliamentary constituencies in 2008,based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002. It first held elections in 2009 and its first member of parliament was D. V. Sadananda Gowda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gowda was selected on 4 August 2011 to become Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka after the previous CM B. S. Yeddyurappa resigned. He therefore had to resign as MP for this seat which forced a by-election in 2012. This by-election was won by K. Jayaprakash Hegde of the Indian National Congress (INC). As of the latest elections in 2019,Shobha Karandlaje of the BJP represents this constituency.
