KPM Music is a company that creates and provides library music that was originally known as KPM Musichouse. It was formed by the merger of KPM (the initials of Keith-Prowse-Maurice, which was then a division of EMI) and Music House (a company that EMI acquired in 1997).
The firm's origins date back to the Keith, Prowse & Co. partnership established in 1830. KPM's music library has been utilised in many films and television programmes worldwide.
The music written by KPM's composers was intended for use as signature tunes or incidental music in film and television. [1] KPM pieces became the theme tunes for Mastermind , All Creatures Great and Small , The Avengers , Animal Magic , This Is Your Life , Dave Allen at Large , Superstars , Grandstand , Rugby Special and ITV News at Ten . In the U.S. the recordings have been used on Sesame Street , as well as sports documentarian Jon Bois' YouTube series, Dorktown.
In the United States, KPM is represented by APM Music.
KPM Musichouse was rebranded as EMI Production Music in 2011 [2] and is now part of Sony Music Publishing. [3] In January 2019, KPM's production library was fully digitized and became available for streaming online. [4]
EMI Production Music was rebranded again to KPM Music on 13 September 2021. [5]

Sony Music Publishing (US) LLC is the largest music publisher in the world, with over five million songs owned or administered as of end March 2021. US-based, it is part of the Sony Music Group, which is itself owned by Sony Entertainment. The company was formed as Sony/ATV in 1995 by the merger of the original incarnation of Sony Music Publishing and ATV Music, which was owned by late entertainer Michael Jackson. Jackson had purchased ATV Music, which included the Lennon–McCartney song catalog, in 1985.

William Alan Hawkshaw was a British composer and performer, particularly of library music used as themes for movies and television programs. Hawkshaw worked extensively for the KPM production music company in the 1950s to the 1970s, composing and recording many stock tracks that have been used extensively in film and TV.

"Heavy Action" is a musical piece composed by Johnny Pearson for KPM Music. Composed in 1970, and featuring a strong brass and string fanfare opening, "Heavy Action" soon became a well established sporting theme tune, most associated in the United Kingdom as the theme for Superstars and in the United States as the theme music for ABC and ESPN's Monday Night Football. APM Music exclusively controls the rights to the song in North America.

Laurence Reginald Ward Johnson was an English composer and bandleader who wrote scores for dozens of film and television series, described as "one of the most highly regarded arrangers of big-band swing and pop music" in England.
