Khoso was a judge who previously served as the chief justice of the Federal Shariat Court and served as the caretaker prime minister ahead of the general elections scheduled in May 2013.

He was born on February 3, 1955, in Multan to a family known for high-profile bureaucrats. He served as the 22nd Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States from December 2013 to February 2017, and previously served as the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan from March 2012 to December 2013. He has also served as a Senior Director at the Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies (CASS).

Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi is a Pakistani politician who served as Minister for Industries and Production, in Abbasi cabinet from August 2017 to May 2018. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman is a Pakistani politician who is serving as 39th Governor of Punjab in office since 30 May 2022 and was appointed by President Arif Alvi, on advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He took the oath of Governor of Punjab on 30 May 2022, Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Muhammad Ameer Bhatti administered his oath. Previously he served as the Minister of State Federal Education and of Interior and Narcotics Control between 2013 and 2017. He had been a member of the National Assembly from 2008 to May 2018.

The Khoso caretaker ministry was the Pakistani caretaker federal cabinet that was sworn into office on 2 April 2013. On 24 March 2013, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was nominated by the Election Commission as the caretaker prime minister, out of four nominees coming from both the opposition and the dissolved government. Khoso was sworn into office on 25 March 2013.

The Abbasi ministry was formed by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on 4 August 2017 to begin a new government following the disqualification of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif until the end of May 2018 when justice Nasirul Mulk took oath as new caretaker prime minister. The ministry, a Pakistan Muslim League (N) majority government, succeeded the third Sharif ministry, which was formed following the 2013 general election and had dissolved in the July 2017 after Nawaz Sharif was disqualification by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to hold the office of Prime Minister.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is a Pakistani politician who served as the longest-serving caretaker prime minister of Pakistan between 14 August 2023 and 4 March 2024. He was succeeded by Shehbaz Sharif. He assumed membership in the Upper House of Pakistan in March 2018. Before taking on the role of caretaker prime minister, Kakar had resigned from the upper house of parliament. Subsequently, he publicly declared his resignation from both the Senate and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), a political party he established in 2018.

The Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan is the acting head of the Caretaker Government in Pakistan following the dissolution of the National Assembly. The purpose of this post is to ensure free and fair elections are held. The most recent Caretaker PM was Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, who took office on 14 August 2023, after the National Assembly was dissolved; he served until 4 March 2024.

Shahzada Ahsan Ashraf is an independent Pakistani politician and business personality. In 2023 he was appointed as federal minister for housing and is currently serving as a federal minister in the PM Anwar Ul Haq Kakar's interim caretaker cabinet of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Ahsan belongs to a prominent and influential family in Pakistan with a rich industrialist and political background.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Second Shehbaz Sharif ministry</span>

After the 2024 general elections in Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif's second ministry was formed. Shehbaz Sharif from the Pakistan Muslim League-N was elected as the Prime Minister. President Asif Ali Zardari took the oath of office. The new Cabinet composition has been described as a "Lean", with its composition being influenced by the need of the new government to respond quickly to the current economic crisis. The Cabinet includes PML-N, MQM(P), PML(Q), IPP and independents. The cabinet’s election is also riddled with controversy.

Ahad Khan Cheema is a Pakistani bureaucrat who is the current Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, appointed on 11 March 2024. Previously, he has served as a chief executive officer (CEO) of the Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Company and director-general of the Lahore Development Authority.
