Kanal 2 is a privately owned Estonian television channel. [3] Its literal name in English is "Channel 2".

The channel was established by Ilmar Taska. The channel began broadcasting on 1 October 1993. [3]

History

The channel started broadcasting on October 1, 1993, the first program seen on the new network being the Estonian animated film Kapsapea (Cabbage Head). [4] The channel in its initial phase broadcast on weekends, beginning December 17 that year, week-round broadcasts started.

On 1 August 2017, Kanal 2 left the free-to-air market and became encrypted. The decision was taken on the basis of optimizing its management based around local programming, as well as due to rising advertising costs. [5]

Vildan Pelin Karahan Güntay is a Turkish actress and TV host, best known for her portrayal of Mihrimah Sultan, Sultan Süleyman's only daughter in Muhteşem Yüzyıl and in Kavak Yelleri.

Duo 4 is an Estonian TV channel owned by Duo Media Networks. The name of the channel was derived from a play on words; in the Estonian language, "Üksteist", the word for eleven, also means "each other". This meant that the channel promoted itself using sentences such as "We love 11".

Muhteşem Yüzyıl is a Turkish historical drama series. Written by Meral Okay and Yılmaz Şahin, it is based on the life of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, the longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and his wife Hürrem Sultan, a slave girl who became the first Ottoman Haseki Sultan. It also sheds light on the era known as the Sultanate of Women. It was originally broadcast on Show TV and then transferred to Star TV.
