Karen Lisa Finerman (born February 25, 1965) is an American businesswoman and television personality.

Early life and education

Finerman was born to a Jewish family, [1] the daughter of Jane and Gerald Finerman. She was raised in Beverly Hills, California with sisters Wendy, Leslie, and Stacey, and a brother, Mark. [2] [3] Finerman graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1983. In 1987, she graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. [4] [5]

Career

Co-founder of Metropolitan Capital Advisors, Inc., Finerman is also President of the firm. [6] [7]

Finerman serves on the Board of Advisors to The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. [8]

She is a board member of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and trustee of the Montefiore Medical Center. [4] She is a member of the board of GrafTech International, Ltd. [9]

Finerman is a panelist on the show Fast Money on CNBC. [10] [11]

She is a founding Master Player of the Portfolios with Purpose contest. [12]

Her first book, Finerman's Rules: Secrets I'd Only Tell My Daughters About Business and Life was published by Hachette Book Group's Business Plus on June 4, 2013. [13]

She also hosts the women's business podcast How She Does It on Airwave Media and HerMoney. [14] [15]

Personal life

Finerman has four children (two sets of twins) and is married to Lawrence E. Golub, who manages Golub Capital, a credit asset manager. [16] [17]

<i>Fast Money</i> (talk show) American investing talk show

Fast Money is an American financial stock trading talk show that began airing on the CNBC cable/satellite TV channel on June 21, 2006. Beginning October 10, 2007, it was broadcast every weeknight at 5pm ET, one hour after the close of trading on the New York Stock Exchange, until mid-2011 when it was moved to just four nights per week, Monday through Thursday, to make room for special option and currency trading shows on Friday evenings. On March 22, 2013, it returned to the Friday night slot as a half-hour show, followed by the Options Action half-hour show. The Friday edition of Fast Money returned to being a full-hour show on September 22, 2023, after Options Action was quietly cancelled the previous Friday. The show originates from the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City.

Elizabeth Anne Holmes is an American biotechnology entrepreneur who was convicted of fraud in connection to her blood-testing company, Theranos. The company's valuation soared after it claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by developing methods that needed only very small volumes of blood, such as from a fingerprick. In 2015, Forbes had named Holmes the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionaire in the United States on the basis of a $9-billion valuation of her company. In the following year, as revelations of fraud about Theranos's claims began to surface, Forbes revised its estimate of Holmes's net worth to zero, and Fortune named her in its feature article on "The World's 19 Most Disappointing Leaders".

Lawrence E. Golub is an American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and business executive. He is the CEO of Golub Capital, a credit asset management company he founded in 1994. Prior to Golub Capital, he had management careers with Bankers Trust Company and Allen & Company. Golub sits on the board of numerous organizations, including Harvard University's JD-MBA Alumni Association. He is one of three private members of the Financial Control Board of the State of New York.
