Katin Houser is an American football quarterback who will play for the East Carolina Pirates. He previously played for the Michigan State Spartans.

High school career

Houser originally attended Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada before transferring to St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California for his final two years. [1] As a senior, he split time at quarterback and passed for 1,408 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. [2] Houser originally committed to Boise State University to play college football but later switched to Michigan State University. [3] [4] [5]

College career

Michigan State

Houser spent his first year at Michigan State in 2022 as a backup to Payton Thorne. He played in one game and took a redshirt. [6] Prior to 2023, he competed for the starting job. [7] [8] He entered the season as a backup to Noah Kim. On November 27, 2023, Houser announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. [9]

East Carolina

On December 16, 2023, Houser announced that he would be transferring to East Carolina. [10]

He began as the starting quarterback for Houston during the 2013 season as a true freshman after teammate David Piland suffered career-ending injuries. After throwing 3,117 yards and 28 touchdowns as a freshman and honored with the American Athletic Conference Freshman Player of the Year, he lost his starting position after starting the first five games in the 2014 season. On February 5, 2015, he announced his plans to transfer to the University of Michigan, where he threw for 1146 yards and 4 touchdowns over two years.

Connor Cook is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the Michigan State Spartans and was their starting quarterback from 2013 to 2015. He holds the record for most career wins at Michigan State. Cook was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. After initially serving as the third-string backup to Derek Carr and Matt McGloin, Cook played in his first NFL game in the Raiders' last regular season game of the 2016 NFL season after Carr and McGloin suffered injuries. Following this, he was named the starter for the Raiders' playoff game against the Houston Texans and became the first quarterback in NFL history to make his first career start in a playoff game.

Speight redshirted in 2014 and was the backup quarterback in 2015. As a redshirt sophomore in 2016, he started 12 games and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors. In 2017, Speight started four games before suffering a season-ending injury. In April 2018, Speight transferred to UCLA.
