The KrAZ-5233 is an off-road truck 4x4 for extreme operations. It was first presented at the 2008 defence industry trade show in Kyiv. The 5322 is manufactured at the KrAZ plant in Ukraine.

The launcher has received a number of improvements over the BM-21 Grad: navigation, communication, alignment and stabilization of the platform. A loading machine has also been developed to automate the loading process.
BM-21UM "Berest" - a Ukrainian 122 mm Multiple rocket launcher. The system is based on the KrAZ-5401 cargo chassis and the modernized BM-21 Grad launcher. Instead of 40 missiles in the Grad launcher, Berest launcher has 50 missiles.
