Al-Yarmouk is a Kuwaiti professional sports club located in the district of Mishref. It was established on 28 February 1965 in Failaka Island and was the only Kuwaiti club to have been established outside mainland Kuwait at that time. The club was relocated to Kuwait after the 1990–1991 Gulf War, which resulted in the displacement of many inhabitants belonging to Failaka's island settlements. Therefore, due to inadequate facilities after the liberation of Kuwait, it was inevitable that the team had to move to a better and more sustainable location. Other reason for the relocation was due to insufficient means of transportation to Failaka Island for away matches during the regular season.

Bossaball is a ball game between two teams, combining elements of volleyball, football, and gymnastics with music into a sport. Oliver Venno is an Estonian volleyball player currently playing for Al Rayyan of the Qatari Volleyball League. He mostly plays at the opposite hitter position but has also played at the outside hitter position on numerous occasions.

Volleyball was one of the many sports which was held at the 1974 Asian Games in Tehran, Iran. All matches played at the Volleyball Hall in Aryamehr Sport Complex.

David McKienzie is a Filipino American volleyball player. He was a 3 time All-American while playing for California State University, Long Beach. He played for the United States national team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. David's father, William Mckienzie, was a member of the USA national team in the late 60's and an alternate for the 1968 Olympics. David's mother, Elvira Mckienzie, was a national team player for the Philippines in both volleyball and Basketball. David's sister, Joy Mckienzie, was an NCAA Division 1 champion in 1993 at Long Beach State and an All-American.

The Arab Volleyball Championship is a sport competition for national teams, currently held biannually and organized by the AVA, the Arab Volleyball Association.
