LaRoyce C. Hawkins (born May 4, 1988) is an American actor, stand-up comedian, spoken word artist, [1] and musician. Hawkins stars on NBC's police drama Chicago P.D. , where he portrays Officer Kevin Atwater. The show is in its tenth season. Hawkins also has a regular role on the crossover show Chicago Fire . [2]
Hawkins was born and raised in Harvey, Illinois, a southern suburb of Chicago. While Hawkins was growing up he lived with his grandparents until he was 13 and he credits them with shaping his life and the lives of his siblings.
Hawkins attended Thornton High School, where he initially played basketball. [3] Influenced by his grandfather's advice to “choose what makes you feel better,” Hawkins left the basketball team sophomore year and joined the speech team, where he became a two-time state champion.
In 2005, Hawkins won the state title in the Illinois High School Association's Original Comedy event, also placing third at the IHSA state competition in Humorous Interpretation. In 2006, he and a partner won the state title in Humorous Duet Acting, while Hawkins also placed fourth at state that year in Original Comedy. [4]
Hawkins attended Illinois State University on a full tuition scholastic scholarship where he majored in theatre arts. In his first college play, he starred as Toledo from the August Wilson production Ma Rainey's Black Bottom . While in college, he landed his first major motion picture role in the feature film The Express: The Ernie Davis Story , the biopic of Ernie Davis, portraying Davis' teammate Art Baker. He took a year-and-a-half off from school, returning in 2007 and graduating in 2012. [5] He is a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. [5]
Prior to Chicago P.D., Hawkins made appearances in various television series, including HBO's Ballers , TBS' Tyler Perry's House of Payne , MTV's Underemployed , and ABC's Detroit 1-8-7 .

Chicago P.D. is an American police procedural action drama television series created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead and is the second installment of Wolf's Wolf Entertainment's Chicago franchise. The series premiered on NBC as a mid-season replacement on January 8, 2014. The show follows the uniformed patrol officers and the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department as they pursue the perpetrators of the city's major street offenses.
Lake View High School is a public four-year high school located in the Lake View neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Lake View is a part of the Chicago Public Schools district. While the current building opened in 1886, the school itself opened in 1874, dating to a time when the Lake View community was not a part of the city of Chicago. Lake View became a part of Chicago in 1889. Created when the Lake View area was its own township before it joined Chicago, the school is the oldest operating township secondary school in the state of Illinois.
Palatine High School, or PHS, is a public four-year high school in Township High School District 211. Located at 1111 N. Rohlwing Road in Palatine, Illinois, United States, a northwest suburb of Chicago, it serves primarily all of and only those areas of Palatine northeast of the UP NW tracks, but also serves small portions of Arlington Heights and Barrington. In addition, PHS is a magnet school for the entire district's special education program. Feeder schools include Winston Campus Junior High and Sundling Junior High. Elementary schools in the attendance area include; Winston Campus, Lake Louise, Jane Addams, Virginia Lake, Lincoln, Sanborn and Paddock.
Paul Robeson High School was a public four–year high school located in the Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Opened in September 1977, Robeson was a part of the Chicago Public Schools district. The school was named in honor of African-American entertainer and athlete Paul Robeson. After years of declining enrollment and low academic performance, the school closed after the 2017–2018 school year and was later demolished in September 2018.
Dandrell Scott is an American actor, rapper, and voiceover artist. He is best known for his voiceover work with Wendy's, and their breakfast commercials starting in 2020. Scott began his VO career in 2018, voicing commercials for Walmart, Comcast, and Ford. While performing as a voiceover artist, Scott also landed roles in Chicago P.D. and the Chi. Scott's music aspirations followed, as he collaborated with hip hop artists such as Bun B and Sasha Go Hard. In 2020, Scott released his first studio single, "Faded 2nite," featuring Chicago rapper, Twista.
