Lahav Harkov is an American-born Israeli journalist who currently serves as the Senior Political Correspondent of Jewish Insider covering Israeli politics & diplomacy. [1] She was formerly the Senior Contributing Editor and Diplomatic Correspondent of The Jerusalem Post . [2]
Harkov grew up in Deal, New Jersey, and Long Branch, New Jersey, and attended Hillel Yeshiva in Ocean Township. [3] She moved to Israel in 2005 at the age of 17. [4] Following two years of National Service with museums, she enrolled at Bar-Ilan University, where she completed a degree in Political Science and Communications. [2] [5] She was inspired to write by her grandmother. [4]
Harkov reports on and analyzes Israel's foreign relations with the world. [2] Harkov got her start as the Jerusalem Post's Knesset reporter when the former correspondent went on maternity leave. [6] After eight years in the position, she was promoted to senior contributing editor and diplomatic correspondent. [4] In August 2021, Harkov accompanied then Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to Washington. They had to stay in Washington over Shabbat and Harkov wrote about the experience. [7]
In June 2022, Harkov along with Jerusalem Post editor Avi Mayer was the first Israeli media outlet to interview Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since his comeback. [8] She started co-hosting the Jerusalem Post Podcast with former editor Yaakov Katz. [9] When Katz left, she began co-hosting it with his successor Avi Mayer. [10] [11]
In September 2023, Harkov joined Jewish Insider as their senior political correspondent. [12]

Gideon Moshe Sa'ar is an Israeli politician who served as Minister of Justice between 2021 and 2022. Sa'ar was previously a member of the Knesset for the Likud between 2003 and 2014, Deputy Prime Minister for a brief spell in 2021, as well as holding the posts of Education Minister (2009–2013) and Minister of the Interior (2013–2014). In 2019 Sa'ar returned to the Knesset and unsuccessfully ran against longtime leader Benjamin Netanyahu for the leadership of the Likud; he left the Knesset the following year after establishing a new party called New Hope.

Owned by the family of Sheldon Adelson, a personal friend and benefactor of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel Hayom has often been criticized for portraying Netanyahu in an overly positive light. Orly Levy-Abekasis is an Israeli politician and former member of the Knesset. Formerly a model, Levy-Abekasis first entered the Knesset in 2009 as a representative of Yisrael Beiteinu, but left the party in 2017 to sit as an independent. In 2019, she formed her own party, Gesher, to contest the April 2019 elections. Although the party failed to win a seat, she returned to the Knesset following the September 2019 elections, in which Gesher ran together with the Labor Party. In May 2020 she was appointed by Prime Minister Netanyahu as the newly created Minister for Community Empowerment and Advancement.
Stav Shaffir is an Israeli politician. She is the leader of the Green Party and was a member of the Knesset for the Democratic Union alliance. She came to national prominence as one of the leaders of the 2011 Israeli social justice protests, focusing on housing, public services, income inequality and democracy, and later became spokeswoman of the movement. She was subsequently elected to the Knesset as a member of the Labor Party in 2013. The party contested the 2015 elections as part of the Zionist Union alliance, with Shaffir retaining her seat. She was re-elected again in the April 2019 elections, in which Labor ran alone. However, after losing a Labor leadership election to Amir Peretz in June 2019, she left the party and resigned from the Knesset and became head of the Green Movement. Her new party formed the Democratic Union alongside Meretz and the Israel Democratic Party. Shaffir lost her Knesset seat in the 2020 election.

Ayelet Shaked is an Israeli former politician, activist, and software engineer. She served as Minister of Interior from 2021 to 2022 and as Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2019. Between 2013 and 2021, she was a representative in the Knesset as a member of The Jewish Home from 2013 to 2018, and then as a founding member of the New Right from 2018 to 2019 and again from 2019 to 2020. Shaked also served as the leader of the defunct right-wing electoral alliance Yamina. Despite her tenure in The Jewish Home, a religious political party, she has identified as a secularist.

The New Right is a right-wing political party in Israel, established in December 2018 by Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett. The New Right aims to be a right-wing party open to both religious and secular people. The party did not win any seats in the April 2019 election, though it won three seats in the subsequent election of September 2019, retained these in the March 2020 election and increased to seven seats in the 2021 Israeli legislative election. It is currently the sole member of the Yamina alliance.
The Union of Right-wing Parties was a short-lived electoral alliance of right-wing to far-right religious Zionist parties which included The Jewish Home, Otzma Yehudit, and Tkuma. The list was created ahead of the April 2019 Israeli legislative election, after the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, urged the Jewish Home alliance to accept Otzma Yehudit as part of its list for the April election, to avoid losing votes for the right-wing bloc. The alliance gained five seats in the April election.
Michal Shir Segman is an Israeli politician. She is currently a member of the Knesset for Yesh Atid, having previously served as an MK for New Hope from 2021 to 2022 and for Likud between 2019 and 2020.
Idit Silman is an Israeli politician who currently serves as the Minister of Environmental Protection. Silman previously served as a member of the Knesset for Likud from 2022 to 2023, for Yamina from 2021 to 2022, and for the Union of Right-Wing Parties in 2019. She was the parliamentary whip of the coalition from 2021, until her resignation from the coalition on 6 April 2022, after which she maintained her Knesset seat and shifted the balance of power between coalition and opposition.
Legislative elections were held in Israel on 23 March 2021 to elect the 120 members of the 24th Knesset. It was the fourth Knesset election in two years, amidst the continued political deadlock following the previous three elections in April 2019, September 2019 and 2020. Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett announced that they had formed a rotation government on 2 June 2021, which was approved on 13 June 2021.
