Royal College, Colombo is a selective entry boys' school located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Started by Joseph Marsh in 1835, it was established as the Colombo Academy by Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton in January 1836, as part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Colebrooke Cameron Commission (1833), and was the first government-run secondary school for boys in the island.

Dinesh Subasinghe is a Sri Lankan composer, violinist, and music producer. Gayathri Khemadasa is a Sri Lankan composer and contemporary classical pianist. Born in 1976 in Colombo, she is the daughter of Premasiri Khemadasa. She was educated at Ladies College, Colombo and studied music at the Prague Conservatory and Masaryk University, Czech Republic. She began performing in public in 2005, in order to raise money for the victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami. In 2011, she was awarded a Fulbright Professional Scholarship and became a visiting scholar at Wesleyan University where she began writing an opera on Phoolan Devi. In 2015, at the Derana Film Awards, Khemadasa became the first Sri Lankan woman to win a national award for Best Original Score with the film Thanha Rathi Ranga. The following year, she won the award for Best Music Director at the Hiru Golden Film Award for the same film. In 2022, at the Ceylon International Film Festival in California, She became the first Sri Lankan to win an international award for Best Music with the film The Newspaper.Two more additional awards followed in November 2023 at the Presidential Film Awards where she won Best Song Melody and Best Music Director.
Samige Kathawa (Sam's story) (Sinhala: සැමීගේ කතාව) is a 2014 Sri Lankan Sinhala drama film directed by Priyankara Vittanachchi and co-produced by Priyankara Vittanachchi, Wimal Deshapriya, Rohan Fonseka for Maheel Films. It stars Jagath Chamila in lead role along with Sanath Gunathilake, Nilmini Buwaneka and Menik Kurukulasuriya. Music composed by Lakshman Joseph De Saram. It is the 1202nd film in the Sri Lankan cinema. The film has based on the Gratiaen Prize winning novel Sam's Story of Captain Elmo Jayawardena.
Balapaduwaduge Manukulasuriya Lakshman Mendis, popularly as Lakshman Mendis, is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, theatre and television.
Ravindranath Lakshman de Alwis Wijesekera, popularly as Lakshman Wijesekara, was a Sri Lankan singer, composer, actor, director of advertising and teacher by profession. One of the most respected artists in Sri Lanka, Lakshman has excelled in both music and acting in a career spanned more than five decades.
