The Larne Times is a weekly newspaper based in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The paper was taken over by Johnston Press in 2005 from Scottish Radio Holdings and is now operated by the holding company, Johnston Publishing (NI).

In 1891 it was founded as The Larne Times and Weekly Telegraph and in 1936 became simply Larne Times. [2]

In 2016, Johnston Press still considered it to be one of its core titles. [3]

The ongoing investment within the Phoenix Natural Gas licence area does not attract any grant or support from local or UK government. The investment is a standalone private venture.

Johnston Press plc was a multimedia company founded in Falkirk, Scotland, in 1767. Its flagship titles included UK-national newspaper the i, The Scotsman, the Yorkshire Post, the Falkirk Herald, and Belfast's The News Letter. The company was operating around 200 newspapers and associated websites around the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man when it went into administration and was the purchased by JPIMedia in 2018. The Falkirk Herald was the company's first acquisition in 1846. Johnston Press's assets were transferred to JPIMedia in 2018, who continued to publish its titles.

Mounthill is a small village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, near Larne. In the 2011 Census, it had a population of 114 people. It is situated in the Larne Borough Council area.

Pat Buckley was an Irish independent Catholic bishop and former Roman Catholic priest who was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church. As a Catholic priest, he ministered to Provisional Irish Republican Army prisoners during the 1981 Irish hunger strike, including their leader, Bobby Sands. His ordination to the episcopate by Bishop Michael Cox resulted in his being excommunicated from the Catholic Church. He subsequently officiated at the marriages of divorcees who wished to remarry and received a suspended sentence for officiating at sham marriages. Buckley also served as a local councillor on Larne Borough Council.

The Irish Sea border is an informal term for the trade border between Northern Ireland and Great Britain. It was specified by the Ireland/Northern Ireland Protocol of the Brexit withdrawal agreement, was refined by the Joint Committee in December 2020, and came into effect on 1 January 2021 following the end of the Brexit transition period. As a result of the Agreement, Northern Ireland remains aligned to the European Single Market in a limited way for goods, whilst remaining part of the United Kingdom customs territory and the UK internal market. Its effect is that the need for customs checks on the Irish border has been avoided, and a hard border has not been re-established.

Kofi Balmer is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for EFL League Two club AFC Wimbledon, on loan from Premier League club Crystal Palace. He has won caps for Northern Ireland up to under-21 level.
