The Leinster colleges senior football "A" championship, is the top level Gaelic football competition for secondary schools in Leinster. The winners receive the Brother Bosco (Mulhare) Cup and advance to the All-Ireland colleges "A" senior football championship, where they compete for the Hogan Cup.
St Mel's College of Longford hold the record for number of wins and this includes a record of six title wins in a row and a total of eight in the same decade. They also reached fourteen straight finals between 1930 and 1943. Naas CBS are the current title holders.

The Carlow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) or Carlow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Carlow and the Carlow county teams.

The Kildare Junior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by lower-tier Kildare GAA clubs. The winning club plays in the Kildare Intermediate Football Championship in the following year. As of the 2022 season there is an overall Junior Championship winner as well as a Junior A winner. There have been various iterations of the competition, which started in 1906 as the secondary competition to the Kildare Senior Football Championship. In 1928 a Kildare Intermediate Football Championship was started for middle tier teams with the Junior Championship ranking below that. In 1947 the Junior Championship was split into A and B competitions with the winners competing for the overall Junior title. They played for a trophy called the Jack Higgins Cup, named after the former Kildare and Naas great. Reserve teams were allowed to enter the Junior Championship at various stages up until recent years but a Reserve Championship has since been instigated. The Jack Higgins Trophy has not been played since 2019 due to the covid pandemic. The Junior winners receive the Noel Moran Cup, named after the former Kilcock and Kildare player.

Killoe Young Emmets is a Gaelic Football and Ladies' Gaelic football club based in Killoe, County Longford, Ireland. The club is also referred to by the Irish 'Emmet Óg' or by 'Killoe Emmet Óg'. Organised Gaelic Games in the Parish of Killoe can trace its origins back to 1889 with the foundation of the Killoe Erins Pride club. Following a long period of no competition in Longford during the 1890's and early 1900's, the GAA re-emerged in Killoe in late 1903 under the name Killoe Young Emmets and the club competed in Senior Football Championship in 1904, the first such championship held since 1891. Killoe Young Emmets has won 14 Longford Senior Football Championship titles and 1 Longford Senior Hurling Championship title and has thriving Underage and Ladies (Killoe) sections.

Michael Graham is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player. He managed the Cavan senior football team from 2018 to 2023. He previously played for Cavan and was part of the team that won the Ulster Senior Football Championship in 1997.

The draws for the respective provincial championships took place at various stages between June and September 2022. The championship ran from 6 November 2022 to 22 January 2023.
