Patrick Ewing was the first Georgetown Hoyas player selected with the first overall pick in an NBA Draft.

The Georgetown Hoyas, representing Georgetown University, have had 42 players picked in the NBA draft. Two Hoyas were the NBA first overall draft picks: Patrick Ewing in 1985 and Allen Iverson in 1996. Alonzo Mourning was the second overall pick in the 1992 draft. [1] Other alumni have gone undrafted, but entered the NBA later, such as Jaren Jackson in 1989, and Henry Sims and Chris Wright in 2013. [2] [3]

Ewing is regarded as one of the greatest centers of all time, playing a dominant role in the New York Knicks 1990s success.

Ruben Bertrand Boumtje-Boumtje is a Cameroonian professional basketball executive and former player who last served as the assistant general manager of the Delaware Blue Coats of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas and professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Portland Trail Blazers. Boumtje-Boumtje retired in November 2011 at age 33 due to a heart condition.

The 2009–10 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team represented Georgetown University in the 2009–2010 NCAA Division I basketball season. The Hoyas were coached by John Thompson III and played their home games at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The Hoyas were members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 23–11, 10–8 in Big East play. They advanced to the championship game of the 2010 Big East men's basketball tournament before losing to West Virginia. They received an at-large bid to the 2010 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, earning a 3 seed in the Midwest Region, where they were upset by 14 seed Ohio in the first round.

The 2010–11 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team represented Georgetown University in the 2010–2011 NCAA Division I basketball season. In November, the team played in and won the Charleston Classic tournament. During the February 23 game against the Cincinnati Bearcats, senior Chris Wright injured his hand, and later had surgery that kept him out of the final conference games. Without him, the Hoyas lost in their first game in the 2011 Big East men's basketball tournament. The team ultimately received an at-large invitation as a 6 seed in the 2011 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, where they lost in the second round to VCU. They finished the season 21–11, 10–8 in Big East play.

The 2011–12 Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team represented Georgetown University in the 2011–2012 NCAA Division I basketball season. They were led by John Thompson III and played their home games at the Verizon Center. They are a member of the Big East Conference. Prior to the season, the Hoyas made a goodwill trip to China for several matches with local teams. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden attended their first game, a win over the Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons. Their second game, against the Bayi Rockets, ended in a brawl, causing the team to leave the court while Chinese fans threw garbage and debris. Georgetown won their final games against the Liaoning Dinosaurs and the Taiwanese national team without incident.

He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas and was selected with the third overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards.

The Hoyas were coached by John Thompson III and played their home games at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. The Hoyas were members of the original Big East Conference. They finished the season 16-15, 7-11 in Big East play. They lost to St. John's in the first round of the 2009 Big East men's basketball tournament. They received an at–large bid to the 2009 National Invitation Tournament, earning a 6 seed in one of the NIT's regions, and lost to Baylor in the first round.
