The publications of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) constitute around 30% of the world literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields,[ citation needed ] publishing well over 100 peer-reviewed journals. [1] The content in these journals as well as the content from several hundred annual conferences are available in the IEEE's online digital library. [2] The IEEE also publishes more than 750 conference proceedings every year. [3] In addition, the IEEE Standards Association maintains over 1,300 standards in engineering.

Contents

Some of the journals are published in association with other societies, like the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Optical Society (OSA), and the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).

Dr. Lawrence Jerome Fogel was a pioneer in evolutionary computation and human factors analysis. He is known as the inventor of active noise cancellation and the father of evolutionary programming. His scientific career spanned nearly six decades and included electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, communication theory, human factors research, information processing, cybernetics, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and computer science.

The IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society is a professional society of the IEEE. It aims "to serve the interests of its members and the community at large by promoting the theory, practice, and interdisciplinary aspects of systems science and engineering, human-machine systems, and cybernetics".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award</span>

The IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award is a Technical Field Award established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 2001. It is an institute level award, not a society level award. It is presented for outstanding early to mid-career contributions to technologies holding the promise of innovative applications. The prize is sponsored by Dr. Kiyo Tomiyasu, the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, and the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT).

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. The editor-in-chief is Roberto Gómez García. The journal covers research on electromagnetic radiation and the relevant, physical components to achieve such radiations. It focuses on devices, intermediate parts of systems, and completed systems of the interested wavelengths, but also includes papers which emphasize theory, experiment, and applications of the subjects covered.

Microwave engineering pertains to the study and design of microwave circuits, components, and systems. Fundamental principles are applied to analysis, design and measurement techniques in this field. The short wavelengths involved distinguish this discipline from electronic engineering. This is because there are different interactions with circuits, transmissions and propagation characteristics at microwave frequencies.

Teresa Huai-Ying Meng is a Taiwanese-American academician and entrepreneur. She is the Reid Weaver Dennis Professor of Electrical Engineering, Emerita, at Stanford University, and founder of Atheros Communications, a wireless semiconductor company acquired by Qualcomm, Inc.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Levent Gürel</span> Turkish scientist (born 1964)

Levent Gürel is a Turkish scientist and electrical engineer. He was the director of Computational Electromagnetics Research Center (BiLCEM) and a professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Bilkent University, Turkey until November 2014. Currently, he is serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is also serving as the founder and CEO of ABAKUS Computing Technologies.

As of 2023, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has 7,236 members designated Fellow, each of whom is associated with one of the 41 societies under the IEEE.

Salman A. Avestimehr is a Dean's professor at the Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science Departments of University of Southern California, where he is the inaugural director of the USC-Amazon Center for Secure and Trusted Machine Learning and the director of the Information Theory and Machine Learning (vITAL) research lab. He is also the CEO and Co-Founder of FedML. Avestimehr's contributions in research and publications are in the areas of information theory, machine learning, large-scale distributed computing, and secure/private computing and learning. In particular, he is best known for deterministic approximation approaches to network information theory and coded computing. He was a general co-chair of the 2020 International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), and is a Fellow of IEEE. He is also co-authors of four books titled “An Approximation Approach to Network Information Theory”, “Multihop Wireless Networks: A Unified Approach to Relaying and Interference Management”, “Coded Computing”, and “Problem Solving Strategies for Elementary-School Math.”

Konstantina "Nantia" Nikita is a Greek electrical and computer engineer and a professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. She is director of the Mobile Radiocommunications Lab and founder and director of the Biomedical Simulations and Imaging Lab, NTUA. Since 2015, she has been an Irene McCulloch Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Medicine at Keck School of Medicine and Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California.

Earl W. McCune Jr. was an American electrical engineer, telecommunications engineer, inventor, Silicon Valley entrepreneur, and IEEE Fellow. He is known for his research on achieving "Green" communications systems that have optimal energy efficiency.
