A not so great year for Kannada cinema, with 15% success rate, notable films that were successful include Veera Madakari, Thaakath, Junglee, Ambari, Love Guru, Manasaare , and Eddelu Manjunatha.
Raaj The Showman became the highest-grossing movie of this year marking Puneeth on the top. Duniya Vijay with 2 hits, Sudeep and Jaggesh back with their box office glory, Diganth, Yogi and Ajay rao also had their share of success.
Aindrita Ray scored 2 big hits with Junglee and Manasaare, Yagna Shetty and Radhika Pandit grabbed all the awards for their performances in Eddelu Manjunatha and Love Guru. Shubha Poonja for Thaakath, Pooja Gandhi for Gokula and Ragini Dwivedi for Veera Madakari had a decent year too. [1]

Mithun Chakraborty is an Indian actor, producer and politician who predominantly worked in Hindi and Bengali language films. Regarded as one of the greatest actors in Indian cinema. He is a former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament. He is the recipient of three National Film Awards. In January 2024, Chakraborty was awarded Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour, by the Government of India.
Upendra is an Indian actor, filmmaker, producer, screenwriter and politician who worked primarily in Kannada films. He has also worked in a few Telugu films. Upendra was known for his thematic representation of Indian politics and society in his films. In 2017, He joined the political party Karnataka Pragnyavanta Janata Paksha, before quitting the party in 2018 due to internal differences and formed another party named Uttama Prajaakeeya Party (UPP), which was based on the principles of Prajakiya. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Angkor University in 2015.
Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath, known by his stage name Dwarakish, was an Indian actor, comedian, director and producer who predominantly worked in Kannada cinema in addition to few Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. Starting his career as a supporting actor in Veera Sankalpa (1964) and co-producer for the film Mamatheya Madilu in 1966, Dwarakish went on to work over five decades in cinema. He debuted as a director with the film Nee Bareda Kadambari (1985).
Sri Manjunatha is a 2001 Indian Kannada-Telugu bilingual hagiographical film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao. The film stars Chiranjeevi, Arjun Sarja, Ambareesh, Meena, Soundarya and Sumalatha. The film is based on the life of the Shiva devotee, Bhakta Manjunatha of the Kotilingeshwara Temple. The film was partially reshot in Telugu under the same title with Chiranjeevi's scenes reshot in Telugu and Brahmanandam and Tanikella Bharani replacing Dwarakish and Mimicry Dayanand, respectively whilst all other scenes were dubbed from the Kannada original.

She made her debut in the 2007 film Ondu Preethiya Kathe, following which she appeared in Eddelu Manjunatha, a performance that won her a Filmfare Special Award. She got noticed for her performances in Sugreeva (2010) and Allide Nammane Illi Bande Summane (2011). Known for portraying deglamorous and serious roles, she went on to appear in other critical and commercial successes such as Love Guru (2009), Kalla Malla Sulla (2011) and Ulidavaru Kandanthe (2014). She made her television debut in 2016 with Vaarasdaara.
