The North Korean football champions are the winners of the highest league in North Korean football, which is currently the DPR Korea Premier Football League.
Also listed here are the winners of North Korea's cup competitions (the Republican Championship, from 1972 to 2011, and the Hwaebul Cup from 2013 on), and the other annual league-like "Prize" competitions that North Korea's football clubs take part in (the Man'gyŏngdae Prize, the Osandŏk Prize, the Paektusan Prize, and the Poch'ŏnbo Torch Prize), which were used prior to the 2017–18 season to determine which teams played for the National Championship.

The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania. It has 47 member countries most of which are located in Asia. Australia, formerly in OFC, joined AFC in 2006. Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, both territories of the United States, are also AFC members that are geographically in Oceania. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC who managed women's association football in Asia. The group was independently founded in April 1968 in a meeting involving Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. In 1986 ALFC merged with AFC.

The 2017–18 DPR Korea Premier Football League was the first season of the reformed DPR Korea Premier Football League, the top North Korean association football league, to use a home-and-away format. The league started on 1 December 2017 and will continue until 28 October 2018. Matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays only.

The competition was held between 27 July and 28 August 2013, with all matches played at the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in P'yŏngyang. The competition was arranged in two phases, a group stage followed by a single-elimination play-off semi-finals, and a single-game final.

The competition was held between 27 July and 28 August 2017, with all matches played at the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in P'yŏngyang. Sobaeksu Sports Club won the competition for the first time, as the defending champion, April 25, were not entered into the competition due to their taking part in the 2017 AFC Cup. Ryŏmyŏng finished second, whilst Hwaebul and Kigwancha placed third and fourth respectively.
