1997-2001

By 1997, the number of town councils was 14. [13] For the first time, Community Development Councils (CDC) are established by the People's Association Act (CDC Rules & Regulations 1997) to promote cohesion and self-relisience for the electorates. During the period, there were nine CDCs, including Central Singapore and North East which still exists as of today. [14]

2001-2006

By 2001, the number of town councils is 16. For the first time, CDCs were simplified into five regions: Central Singapore and North East, as well as the newly formed North West, South East and South West, which were reorganized from the other seven existing CDCs. [15]

2013-2015

By 2013, the number of town councils is 16. The seat for Punggol East SMC was transferred from Pasir Ris-Punggol town council to Aljunied-Hougang town council (renaming it to Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East) as a result of the 2013 by-election held 26 January 2013, and Sembawang-Nee Soon town council was hived into separate town councils based on boundaries for the respective GRCs and overpopulation. [18] [19]

By 2015, the number of town councils is 16. For the first time, all town councils are overseen by GRCs due to Potong Pasir SMC subsuming into the revived Jalan Besar town council (retaining the new logo from Moulmein-Kallang). [20] [21]

Workers Party (Singapore) Political party in Singapore

The Workers' Party is a major centre-left political party in Singapore and is one of the three contemporary political parties represented in parliament, alongside the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) and the opposition Progress Singapore Party (PSP). It is currently the largest opposition party in parliament. It is also one of the oldest parties active in the country, having contested every parliamentary election since 1959. Serangoon is a planning area and residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore.

Hougang Planning Area and HDB Town in North-East Region ----, Singapore

Hougang is a planning area and mature residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore. The town is the most populous in the region, being home to 247,528 residents as of 2018. Hougang planning area is bordered by Sengkang to the north, Geylang and Serangoon to the south, Bedok to the southeast, Toa Payoh to the southwest, Paya Lebar to the east, Ang Mo Kio to the west and Bishan to the southwest.

The Ang Mo Kio Police Division is one of the seven land divisions of the Singapore Police Force. It was first established in 1965. It was previously located in Paya Lebar. In 1987, the division HQ moved to its present location to better serve the public and meet its operational needs. Ang Mo Kio Division serves a residential population of over 1.1 million residents. Ang Mo Kio Division’s area of coverage includes mature housing estates such as Ang Mo Kio, Hougang and Serangoon. It also oversees young but rapidly-developing residential estates like Sengkang and Punggol.

Sengkang Planning Area and HDB Town in North-East Region ----, Singapore

Sengkang is a planning area and residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore. The town is the second most populous in the region, being home to 249,370 residents in 2020. Sengkang shares boundaries with Seletar and Punggol in the north, Pasir Ris and Paya Lebar in the east, Hougang and Serangoon to the south, as well as Yishun and Ang Mo Kio to the west.

Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency Electoral constituency in Singapore

The Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north eastern region of Singapore. The constituency encompasses the majority of Ang Mo Kio, Seletar Hills, the northern half of Serangoon North, a portion of northern Hougang and a portion of Fernvale. The western portion consists of parts of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, while in the northeastern corner, it borders the Straits of Johor with two reclaimed islands, Pulau Punggol Barat and Pulau Punggol Timor. The northeast also includes the Sengkang Floating Wetland. This GRC has a total of 5 wards namely Teck Ghee, Cheng San- Seletar, Fernvale, Jalan Kayu and Ang Mo Kio-Hougang. The current MPs are Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Darryl David, Gan Thiam Poh, Ng Ling Ling and Nadia Ahmad Samdin from the People's Action Party (PAP).

Aljunied Group Representation Constituency Electoral constituency in Singapore

The Aljunied Group Representation Constituency is a five-member group representation constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern and eastern region of Singapore. The five divisions of the GRC are Eunos, Bedok Reservoir-Punggol, Kaki Bukit, Serangoon and Paya Lebar. The current MPs are Pritam Singh, Sylvia Lim, Gerald Giam, Leon Perera and Muhamad Faisal Manap from the Worker's Party (WP).

Pasir Ris–Punggol Group Representation Constituency

The Pasir Ris–Punggol Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the north-eastern region of Singapore. The constituency currently consists of Pasir Ris and parts of the Punggol town area. The GRC comprises 5 sub constituencies which are Pasir Ris Central, Pasir Ris East, Pasir Ris West, Punggol Shore as well as Punggol Coast. The current MPs are Teo Chee Hean, Janil Puthucheary, Mohamed Sharael Taha, Yeo Wan Ling and Desmond Tan from the People's Action Party (PAP).

Hougang Single Member Constituency Electoral division in Singapore

The Hougang Single Member Constituency is a single member constituency (SMC) located in the north-eastern area of Singapore. Its current Member of Parliament is Dennis Tan Lip Fong of the Workers' Party (WP).

Cheng San Group Representation Constituency is a now defunct Group Representation Constituency in the North-eastern region in Singapore. The GRC consisted of the eastern part of Ang Mo Kio, Jalan Kayu, Seletar Hills, part of Serangoon North, a large part of Hougang, Buangkok, and the whole of Sengkang New Town and Punggol New Town.

Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency

The Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency is a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) located in the central, eastern and north-eastern areas of Singapore. The constituency consists of a section of Bedok, Chai Chee, Geylang, Kaki Bukit, Kallang, Kembangan, Marine Parade, Mountbatten, Ubi, Serangoon and Hougang. There are a total of 5 divisions in this GRC: Marine Parade, Geylang Serai, Braddell Heights, Joo Chiat and Kembangan-Chai Chee. The current MPs are Tan Chuan Jin, Edwin Tong, Seah Kian Peng, Tan See Leng and Mohd Fahmi Aliman from the People's Action Party (PAP).

Charles Chong You Fook is a former Singaporean politician. Chong retired as Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and MP for Punggol East SMC following his retirement from politics after 32 years on 23 June 2020.

North East Community Development Council

The North East Community Development Council is one of five Community Development Councils (CDCs) set up across the Republic of Singapore to aid in local administration of governmental policies and schemes. They are funded in part by the government although they are free to engage in fund-raising activities.

Central Singapore Community Development Council

The Central Singapore Community Development Council is one of five Community Development Councils (CDCs) set up across the Republic of Singapore to aid in local administration of governmental policies and schemes.

Punggol West Single Member Constituency

The Punggol West Single Member Constituency is a Single Member Constituency located in the north-eastern area of Singapore formed in 2020. The current Member of Parliament (MP) is Sun Xueling of the People's Action Party (PAP).
