This is a list of State Protected Monuments listed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. [1]

The monument identifier is a combination of the abbreviation of the subdivision of the list (state, ASI circle) and the numbering as published on the website of the ASI. 28 State Protected Monuments have been recognized by the ASI in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides the State Protected Monuments, there are 56 Monuments of National Importance in this state. [2]

Martand Sun Temple Hindu temple in Jammu and Kashmir, India

The Martand Sun Temple is a Hindu temple located near the city of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It dates back to the 8th century AD and was dedicated to Surya, the chief solar deity in Hinduism; Surya is also known by the Sanskrit-language synonym Martand. The temple was destroyed by the Shah Miri dynasty in the 15th century, on the orders of the erstwhile Muslim ruler of Kashmir, Sikandar Shah Miri.
