Tulu cinema, also known as Coastalwood, is a part of Indian cinema. The Tulu film industry produces five to seven films annually. The first Tulu film was Enna Thangadi released in 1971. Earlier, these films were released in theatres across the Tulu Nadu region. Tulu film industry has grown to such an extent that films are being released simultaneously in Mangalore, Udupi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Middle East. The critically acclaimed Tulu film Suddha won the award for the best Indian Film at the Osian's Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema held in New Delhi in 2006. He has worked in more than 22 films in Coastalwood. Mostly known for his comedy roles. Umesh Mijar is a popular Actor.
Pruthvi Ambaar is an Indian actor who works in Kannada and Tulu films. He started his career as a radio jockey. His performance in the Kannada film Dia (2020) gained him recognition.
Magane Mahisha is a 2022 Indian Tulu language film written and directed by Veerendra Shetty Kavoor. The cast of the movie includes Devadas Kapikad, Jyothi Rai, Naveen D Padil, Arvind Bolar and Bhojaraj Vamnjoor in lead roles. Magane Mahisha has been produced by Veerendra Shetty Kavoor under the banner of Veeru Talkies. The movie was released on 29 April 2022. The music of the film is released worldwide by Movietone Digital Entertainment Pvt Ltd under its flagship music label “OnClick Music” in Tulu & Kannada language both.
