Solokha Scythian burial mound in Ukraine

The Solokha (Солоха) kurgan is on the left bank of the Dnieper, 18 km from Kamianka-Dniprovska, opposite Nikopol, in central Ukraine. It has a height of 19 m and a diameter of about 100 m, dating to the early 4th century BC. It contained two royal Scythian tombs, the central tomb had been robbed already in antiquity, but still contained the remains of a female ruler and two horses in rich attire, while the side tomb was found intact by the 1912–13 campaign by the Russian archaeologist N. I. Veselovski. The tomb is notable because it confirmed the historicity of an account of Herodotus.

Oleg Nikolayevich Trubachyov was a Soviet and Russian linguist. A researcher of the etymology of Slavic languages and Slavic onomastics, specialist in historical linguistics and lexicographer. He was a Doctor of Sciences in Philological Sciences, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and served as the editor-in-chief of the Etimologiya yearbook. His works are on the etymology of Slavic languages and on East Slavic onomastics.

Lev Belkind

Lev Davidovich Belkind (Russian: Лев Давидович Белькинд, Профессор, Доктор Технических наук; was a Soviet scientist, engineer and historian; author of numerous publications on the history of science and technology.

Pyotr Gannushkin

Pyotr Borisovich Gannushkin was a Russian psychiatrist who developed one of the first theories of psychopathies known today as personality disorders. He was a student of Sergei Korsakoff and Vladimir Serbsky. Not only did he manage to delineate certain organizational tasks of social psychiatry, but he also clearly formulated the main methodological aim of social psychiatrists, to combine methods of individual clinical analysis with sociological research and generalization.

Alexander Vladimirovich Bykov is a Russian historian and ethnographer, one of the leading Russian specialists in numismatics. Publisher, founder of the first Russian private museum of political history, the Museum of Diplomatic Corps in Vologda, Russia; he is the author of multiple articles, books, and popular science publications.

The Etymological Dictionary of Slavic Languages: Proto-Slavic Lexical Stock is an etymological dictionary of the reconstructed Proto-Slavic lexicon. It has been continuously published since 1974 until present, in 41 volumes, making it one of the most comprehensive in the world.

The 1st Guards Zvenigorod–Bucharest Red Banner Order of Suvorov Airborne Division was a division of the Soviet Airborne Troops. The division was first formed in December 1942 and fought in the Battle of the Dnieper, the Battle of the Korsun–Cherkassy Pocket, the Uman–Botoșani offensive, the second Jassy–Kishinev offensive, the Battle of Debrecen, the siege of Budapest and the Prague offensive. In August 1945 it was sent east and fought in the Soviet invasion of Manchuria. The division became the 124th Guards Rifle Division in November 1945 and disbanded in 1956.

The House of Creativity "Staraya Ladoga" was an all-Russian centre for artistic creativity, which existed in the Volkhovsky District of Leningrad Oblast from the mid-20th century up to the 1990s. It was located opposite the ancient village of Staraya Ladoga on the right bank of the Volkhov River.

The Lopukhin family was a noble family of the Russian Empire, forming one of the branches of the Sorokoumova-Glebov family. Eudoxia Lopukhina married Peter the Great. When Pyotr Lopukhin's son died childless, the family's princely title passed to Nikolai Petrovich Demidov-Lopukhin. The present Prince Lopukhin-Demidov is Nikolai Alexander Paul Demidoff born in 1976.

Republic Day of Transnistria State holiday in Transnistria

Praskovia Naumovna Arian, née Belenkaia, was a Russian writer, translator, feminist and educator.
