Because of its beautiful and well-planned verdurous campus, academic atmosphere and traditional inclination towards outdoor sports, it is popularly known as the Cambridge of the East.

Zainul Abedin Bangladeshi painter and pioneer of the modern art movement

Zainul Abedin was a Bangladeshi painter born in Mymensingh, East Bengal, British India. He became well known in 1944 through his series of paintings depicting some of the great famines in Bengal during its British colonial period. After the Partition of Indian subcontinent he moved to East Pakistan. In 1948, he helped to establish the Institute of Arts and Crafts at the University of Dhaka. The Indian Express has described him as a legendary Bangladeshi painter and activist. Like many of his contemporaries, his paintings on the Bengal famine of 1943 are viewed as his most characteristic works. His homeland honored him with given the title "Shilpacharya" "Great teacher of the arts" for his artistic and visionary attributes. He was the pioneer of the modern art movement that took place in Bangladesh and was rightly considered by Syed Manzoorul Islam as the founding father of Bangladeshi modern arts, soon after Bangladesh earned the status of an independent republic.

Mymensingh Capital of Mymensingh Division, Bangladesh

Mymensingh is the capital of Mymensingh Division, Bangladesh. Located on the bank of Brahmaputra River, about 120 km (75 mi) north of the national capital Dhaka, it is a major financial center and educational hub of north-central Bangladesh. The city was constituted by the British East India Company on 1 May,1787.

Shahabuddin Ahmed (artist) Bangladeshi painter

Shahabuddin Ahmed is a Bangladeshi painter. He was awarded the Chevalier De L'ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres by the Ministry of Cultural Affair and Communication of France in 2014. He was the recipient of Independence Day Award by the Government of Bangladesh in 2000. His paintings are displayed in galleries like Olympic Museum, Lausanne, Switzerland, Municipal Museum of Bourg-en-Bresse, France, Seoul Olympic Museum, South Korea, the National Taiwan Museum and Bangladesh National Museum.

It is 9.5 kilometres (5.9 mi) from Gazipur Chowrasta, just east of the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.

National Museum of Science and Technology (Bangladesh) Science museum in Dhaka, Bangladesh

National Museum of Science and Technology (NMST) in Dhaka, Bangladesh was founded on April 26, 1965, by the Pakistani government and became a part of Bangladesh's Ministry of Science and Technology following the Bangladesh Liberation War. It was first based in the Dhaka Public Library, and moved a number of times before its permanent home was completed in 1981. The NMST serves as Bangladesh's only science museum and organizes science education activities at a national level.

Young Bangla

Young Bangla is a special initiative launched by Bangladeshi Government in 2014. The Young Bangla Programme comprises the several schemes, acting as a flexible space for the youth, thousands of individuals and youth-led organizations, supporting them with resources and capacity enhancement trainings.

The Government agencies in Bangladesh are state controlled organizations that act independently to carry out the policies of the Government of Bangladesh.
