This article provides a list of polytechnics in Nigeria , as well as agricultural colleges and other tertiary educational institutes that provide practical training. It does not include universities or teachers' training institutions.

Contents

The polytechnics and colleges are regulated by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education. [1] Most are owned by the Federal or State governments. [2] Some of the colleges are beginning to award degrees. English language is the medium of instruction. The academic year is from October to September. [3]

    Imo State Polytechnic is a higher education institute in Umuagwo, Imo State, Nigeria. It was established in 1978 as the Michael Okpara College of Agriculture, Umuagwo and was upgraded to a Polytechnic status, renamed as the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo in 2007. The institution provides courses, training and research in all branches of Agriculture, Management Sciences, Engineering and Food Sciences. The institution is certified to award National Diploma and Higher National Diploma qualifications.

    Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic is a tertiary learning institution in Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It was founded in 1991. The institution is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) with the mandate to provide access to education in technology and commerce. it offers both OND and HND certificates to students on graduation.

    Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic (HAFEDPOLY) is located in Kazaure, Jigawa State, Nigeria. It was founded in December 1991 as Jigawa State Polytechnic, with four colleges in different locations. These were the College of Engineering, Science and Technology at Kazaure, the College of Business and Management Studies at Dutse, the College of Islamic and Legal Studies at Ringim and the College of Agriculture at Hadejia. The Central Administration is also located at Kazaure. The purpose of the college is to "provide technical and practical oriented training to meet the manpower requirements for the Industrial and Economic development of Nigeria."

    Dorben Polytechnic, is a private tertiary institution accredited by the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Nigeria, West Africa. Dorben Polytechnic was established to provide high quality academic studies for individuals Who intend to develop careers as profession.

    The Federal Polytechnic, Namoda is based in Kaura-Namoda, Zamfara State, Nigeria. It was founded in June 1983 by President Shehu Shagari, and has over 5,000 students. The Polytechnic is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education. It provides full-time and part-time courses in Technology, Applied Science, Commerce and Management, leading to National Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas. The Polytechnic is the only tertiary educational Institution in the town of 300,000. In November 2009, the Africa Youths International Development Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding to provide financial support to upgrade the facilities.

    Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev is a tertiary institution in Yandev near Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria. The college dates back to 1926 when the British colonial government established a farm training center at Yandev, then in Tiv province of the Northern Region. In 1973, the Benue-Plateau State government upgraded the center to a school of Agriculture with an initial enrollment of 23 students. In 1983, the Department of Agriculture of the Murtala College of Arts, Science and Technology, Makurdi was merged with the school. In April 1991, the school was renamed the Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture, Yandev after Dr. James Akperan Orshi, the late monarch of the Tiv nation. The college now has over 2,000 students on a campus that covers 231 hectares.

    The Benue State Polytechnic is a tertiary education institute in Ugbokolo, Okpokwu LGA, Benue State, Nigeria. The current Rector is Dr. Usman David Kuti. It was originally known as the Murtala College of Arts, Science and Technology, established in 1977 by the military governor of Benue State, Colonel Abdullahi Shelleng (1976–1978). In 1983, the college's Department of Agriculture of the College was merged with Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture. The school is approved as a state-owned polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education.

    Our Saviour Institute of Science, Agriculture and Technology (OSISATECH) is a privately owned polytechnic in Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria established in 1989.

    Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic is a tertiary learning institution in Bori City, Khana Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria. It has two campuses, one for the School of Management Sciences and the other for the School of Engineering. It is approved as a state-owned polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education. Engr. Dr. Ledum Suanu Gwarah is the current Rector of the polytechnic.

    Rufus Giwa Polytechnic is a tertiary learning institution in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria. The National Board for Technical Education has approved it as a state-owned Polytechnic. It is also accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

    Auchi Polytechnic is a Federal Polytechnic in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria. It is one of the first four Polytechnics established in Nigeria. It has over 10,000 students enrolled in business, technology, environmental and arts courses.

    University of Cross River State also known as UNICROSS is a state-owned tertiary institution with four campuses spread across four Local Government Areas of the state. The University was formerly known as the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH). It was renamed in February of 2021 by a bill passed at Cross River State House of Assembly which was then approved by the former governor of the State, Benedict Ayade. The change of the tertiary institution's name was to enable the varsity function as a conventional University, which provides the opportunity to offer more professional courses rather focusing on tech-related courses. The present vice chancellor of the institution is Prof Augustine Angba.

    Ramat Polytechnic is a state tertiary institution of learning in Maiduguri Borno State, Nigeria. It was established by the government of the defunct North-Eastern State in January 1973 as Government Technical College.

    Sunday Sylva Togo Echono is a Nigerian diplomat, and architect who serves as the 9th Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund from 2022 till-date. Previously, Echono served as the Secretary of the Admissions Committee of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and the 28th President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects from 2019 to 2021.
