The concept of modern, big and self-service store came to Romania in mid-1990s. Since mid-2000s, there has been a strong growth in the number of supermarkets in the country, particularly in Bucharest and other main urban areas. Almost all supermarkets are owned by multinational companies. This is a list of major retailers in Romania in 2022. [1]

The question of reunification is recurrent in the public sphere of the two countries, often as a speculation, both as a goal and a danger. Though historically Romanian support for unification was high, a March 2022 survey following the Russian invasion of Ukraine indicated that only 11% of Romania's population supports an immediate union, while over 42% think it is not the right moment.

Dedeman is a hypermarket chain with 100% Romanian capital offering home improvement and do-it-yourself goods. The motto is "Dedicat planurilor tale", which translates "Dedicated to your plans". It is based in Bacău and operates 59 stores in the country. Dedeman was created in 1992, by two brothers named Adrian and Dragoș Pavăl.

Founded in 2007, the club has traditionally worn a blue kit since inception. The team has played its home matches in the 5,300-capacity Polyvalent Hall in the Tineretului Park in southern Bucharest. CSM București established itself as a major force in both Romanian and European handball in the late 2010s, winning EHF Champions League in its debut season and reaching the Final Four three consecutive times. This success was replicated in the league, where the club won four consecutive times. The official CSM mascot is a "tiger". CSM Bucharest is one of the most widely supported handball clubs in Romania.

The 2022–23 Liga I was the 105th season of the SuperLiga, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season started on 16 July 2022 and ended in May 2023. It was the eighth season to take place since the play-off/play-out format has been introduced. Farul Constanța claimed the title, ending the five season domination of the Transylvanian side CFR Cluj.
