<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mutesa II of Buganda</span> Monarch of the Kingdom of Buganda from 1939 to 1969

Sir Edward Frederick William David Walugembe Mutebi Luwangula Mutesa II was Kabaka of the Kingdom of Buganda in Uganda from 22 November 1939 until his death. He was the 35th Kabaka of Buganda and the first president of Uganda from 1962 to 1966, when he was overthrown by Milton Obote. The foreign press often referred to him as King Freddie, a name rarely used in Uganda. An ardent defender of Buganda's interests, especially its traditional autonomy, he often threatened to make the kingdom independent both before and after Uganda's independence to preserve it. These firm convictions also later led to conflicts with his erstwhile political ally Milton Obote, who would eventually overthrow him.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Makerere University</span> Ugandan public university

Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922, and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. These colleges include College of Natural Sciences (CONAS), College of Health Sciences (CHS), College of Engineering Art & Design (CEDAT), College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (CAES), College Of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS), College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHUSS), College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS), College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources & Bio-security (COVAB), College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS). In addition, Makerere has onother campus in Eastern Uganda Jinja City.

Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) is the public broadcaster network of Uganda. It was founded as a result of the "Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act, 2004", which merged the operations of Uganda Television (UTV) and Radio Uganda. It started broadcasting on November 16, 2005.

The Vision Group of Companies, commonly known as the Vision Group, is a multimedia conglomerate in Uganda. It publishes the New Vision (newspaper), an English-language daily newspaper, that appears in print form and online, as well as newspapers and magazines in a variety of Ugandan languages.

Maurice Herbert Mugisha, is a Ugandan journalist, broadcaster and corporate executive who works as the deputy managing director of the government-owned media company, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), effective October 2018.

Fun Factory Uganda is a Ugandan entertainment company based in Kampala. It was founded in 2010, with its flagship product being sketch comedy. It also has branched into television shows and event management. FFU's cast are trained at Makerere University School of Liberal and Performing Arts. Their products include Comedicine, U-Turn, and Mizigo Express.

Solomon Serwanjja is a Ugandan investigative journalist and the Executive Director of the African Institute for Investigative Journalism (AIIJ). On 13 July 2021, he resigned from his position as news anchor with NBSTV ending his 13 year career on television. In 2019 Serwanjja was awarded the Komla Dumor Award, an annual award given by the BBC to celebrate African journalists. He holds a master's degree in journalism and communication from Makerere University.

Rukh-Shana Namuyimba is a Ugandan communications specialist. She is a news anchor, and a co-founder of Xfinity Communications Ltd. She initially worked as news anchor at NTV Uganda, before moving to NBS Television.

NBS Television, owned by Kin Kariisa, is a Ugandan television network with its headquarters located at Next Media Park, Plot 13, Summit View Road, Naguru, Kampala District.

NTV Akawungeezi is NTV Uganda's daily news programme, which is delivered in the Luganda language.

Diana Nabatanzi is a Ugandan film entertainer, radio personality, TV presenter, film maker, essayist, chief and a scriptwriter. She is as of now a moderator at BBS Terefayina where she has different shows including a morning show called sumulula, kasukali and uga hood show.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Edwin Musiime</span> Ugandan entrepreneur

Edwin Musiime is a Ugandan entrepreneur, pastor, author and formerly a media personality who stepped down from the property show to focus on his executive roles. He hosted Good Morning Uganda on Uganda Broadcasting Corporation TV (2006–2014) and hosted The Property Show on NTV Uganda for 10years. He serves as the President of the Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs Uganda. He was recently appointed as UK-Uganda convention ambassador.

Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa is a Ugandan news anchor and media personality. He anchors Luganda news Amasengejje and hosts Barometer (Akasameeme) a Luganda talk show on NBS Television (Uganda).

BBS Terefayina, owned by Buganda Kingdom, is a Ugandan television station with its main offices at Masengere building in Mengo along Bulange road in Kampala District.
