Tashkent or Toshkent is the capital and largest city of Uzbekistan. It is the most populous city in Central Asia, with a population of 3 million. It is located in northeastern Uzbekistan, near the border with Kazakhstan.
The Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, also known as Soviet Uzbekistan, the Uzbek SSR, UzSSR, or simply Uzbekistan and rarely Uzbekia, was a union republic of the Soviet Union. It was governed by the Uzbek branch of the Soviet Communist Party, the legal political party, from 1925 until 1990. From 1990 to 1991, it was a sovereign part of the Soviet Union with its own legislation.
Jizzakh is a city and the center of Jizzakh Region in Uzbekistan, located in the northeast of Samarkand. Jizzakh is a district-level city. The population of Jizzakh is 179,200.
Navoiy, also spelled Navoi, is a city and the capital of Navoiy Region in the southwestern part of Uzbekistan. Administratively, it is a district-level city, that includes the urban-type settlement Tinchlik. It is located at latitude 40° 5' 4N; longitude 65° 22' 45E, at an altitude of 382 meters. The city is named after Ali-Shir Nava'i. As of 2020, its population was 144,158 inhabitants.

Sharof Rashidovich Rashidov was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan from 1959 until his death in 1983. During his tenure the Uzbek SSR saw considerable economic growth and had a very high degree of autonomy from the rest of the Soviet Union.
Scouting in Uzbekistan was founded in 1995, and is working toward World Organization of the Scout Movement recognition. In 1998, Scouting was limited to two Scout troops with a total of 15 members. Since the increasing presence of the United States military in the region after the September 11, 2001 attacks, Scouting is beginning to develop more thoroughly, and the fledgling organization, Kidirib Topubchi O'zbekiston, the Uzbekistan Union of Scout-Explorers, has issued insignia, considered to be a large step for nascent Scout organizations.
Tourist activities in Uzbekistan range from outdoor activities, such as rock-climbing, to exploration of its archeological and religious history. The Statistical Internet Survey conducted between May 7 and August 27, 2008, found that the majority of those surveyed (39%) visit Uzbekistan due to interest in its architectural and historical sites. The next-largest group (24%) visited Uzbekistan to observe its culture, way of life, and customs.
Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi often abbreviated as ТАТU or TUIT is one of the largest universities in Uzbekistan, located in its capital Tashkent. Tashkent University of Information Technologies was in 1955 founded as Tashkent Electro Technical Institute of Communication and it was the major and only producer of communication engineers for the Central Asian region. Today, it is one of the major universities to nurture ICT talent in Uzbekistan. The university was named after Al-Khwarizmi by a presidential resolution to further boost its role within the nation and abroad.

The Tashkent–Bukhara high-speed rail line is a 600-kilometre (373 mi) high-speed rail connection between Tashkent and Bukhara, two major cities in Uzbekistan. The route passes through six regions: Tashkent, Sirdaryo, Jizzakh, Samarqand, Navoiy, and Bukhara in Uzbekistan. Trains operate seven days a week under the brand name Afrosiyob. The line originally ran from Tashkent to Samarqand, but an extension to Bukhara went into operation on 25 August 2016. Travel from Tashkent to Bukhara, a distance of 600 km (373 mi), now takes 3 hours and 20 minutes instead of 7 hours.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is a body of the Government of Uzbekistan that is charged with the internal affairs of Uzbekistan and oversees the national police. The Ministry of Internal Affairs was founded on 25 August 1991. It replaced the Soviet Interior Ministry. The current Minister of Internal Affairs is Pulat Bobojonov. The ministry holds joint control over the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It also administers the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is the official educational institution of the ministry.
The 2016 Uzbekistan Cup is the 24th season of the annual Uzbek football Cup competition. The competition started on 14 March 2016 and ended in November 2016. The cup winner is guaranteed a place in the 2017 AFC Champions League.
Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU) is one of the oldest universities in Uzbekistan. Currently, the university consists of 6 faculties, and prepares highly skilled professionals in technical and engineering fields. For this year, it is estimated to run 56 departments with over 10 746 students, who are taught by 6 academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, 74 doctors of sciences and 314 candidates of sciences.
Andijan State Medical Institute was founded in 1955 in one of the ancient cities of Fergana valley. At present, the Institute is one of the leading institutes and research center in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Andijan State Medical Institute is ranked first among the medical institutes for their academic results and scientific achievements. The scientific potential of the institute is growing day by day.
High speed rail in Uzbekistan currently consists of 600 km of track and services using Talgo 250 equipment, branded Afrosiyob by operator Uzbekistan Railways, on upgraded conventional lines. All HSR lines have been built using upgraded lines on Russian gauge. Other regional railways exist.

Abdulla Aʼzamovich Aʼzamov is a Soviet and Uzbek doctor of physical and mathematical sciences (1987), professor, member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (2013), president of the Uzbek Mathematical Society (2013), vice-president of TWMS (2017). He is the recipient of the "People's Education Hero" medal, the International Babur Award (2015), the "Order of Labor Glory" (2016) and the honorary title of "Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
Jizzakh State Pedagogical University (JSPU) is one of the largest institutions of higher education and research centers in Uzbekistan, and a part of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan.
Zarmed University is a private university in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Founded in 2022, it is the first private university established in Bukhara. The university was founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Dilshod Dalerovich Shukurlaev. It has two campuses - in Bukhara and in Samarkand.
