Longinus Fernandes (Longie) is an Indian choreographer and dancer, who won the Filmfare Best Choreography Award in 2009; and internationally he is most known as the choreographer of the closing credits dance sequence featuring Academy Award for Best Original Song winning song, Jai Ho and another featuring O... Saya , also nominated in the same category, in the film Slumdog Millionaire (2008). [1]

At the 81st Academy Awards ceremony, director Danny Boyle thanked him in his acceptance speech, while receiving his award for Best Direction, and also apologized for missing out his name in the credits. [2] [3] [4] [5]

Career

Longinus started out as a dancer in Hindi cinema in early 1990s, which paved way for work as assistant choreographer, soon he graduated to choreographing independently with film, Dil Ka Doctor (1995). [1] Though he came into limelight when he took part in the reality dance competition, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (Season 1), on Sony TV in 2006, where he partnered with actress, Shweta Salve and the couple were adjudged the runners-up, [2] thereafter in 2008 he appeared as a judge in another reality dance competition, between television actors, Saas v/s Bahu, on Sahara One channel. [6] [7] He has also choreographed music videos like, Baba Sehgal's Balle Balle Ho Gai and Adnan Sami's Lift Kara De. [1]

In 2008, he choreographed two songs in the film Slumdog Millionaire , O... Saya and Jai Ho , which were shot at Lion's Gate, Essel World and the CST station in Mumbai, with scores of dancers. [8]

In February 2009, he also started work on Bollywood Hero , a three-part international miniseries'. [9]

Longinus was also awarded the prestigious "Fred Astaire Award" (2009) in New York for best film choreography (Slumdog Millionaire).

He was also the choreographer for the opening of "So You Think You Can Dance-Canada" (for three consecutive years 2009, 2010 & 2011)

Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na is a 2008 Indian Hindi-language coming of age romantic comedy film, written and directed by Abbas Tyrewala. The film stars Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza in the lead roles. Produced by Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan, it marks the directional debut of Abbas Tyrewala, the debut of Imran Khan and Prateik Babbar as actors, and the re-appearance of Manjari Phadnis and Genelia D'Souza in Hindi cinema. Released on 4 July 2008, the film received positive reviews and was successful at the box office. The music is by A. R. Rahman.

<i>Slumdog Millionaire</i> 2008 British film by Danny Boyle

Slumdog Millionaire is a 2008 British drama film that is a loose adaptation of the novel Q & A (2005) by Indian author Vikas Swarup, telling the story of 18-year-old Jamal Malik from the Juhu slums of Mumbai. Starring Dev Patel as Jamal, and filmed in India, the film was directed by Danny Boyle, written by Simon Beaufoy, and produced by Christian Colson, with Loveleen Tandan credited as co-director. As a contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati, an Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Jamal surprises everyone by being able to answer every question correctly. Accused of cheating, Jamal recounts his life story to the police, illustrating how he is able to answer each question correctly.

<i>Slumdog Millionaire: Music from the Motion Picture</i> 2008 soundtrack album by A. R. Rahman

Slumdog Millionaire: Music from the Motion Picture is the soundtrack album of the British drama film of the same name, directed by Danny Boyle. The original score and songs were composed by A. R. Rahman, who planned the score in two months and completed it in 20 days, a far shorter time period than usual. The soundtrack has won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, BAFTA Award for Best Film Music, and two Academy Awards, one for Best Original Music Score and the other for Best Original Song for "Jai Ho". The soundtrack has also won two Grammy Awards, one for the album itself and another for the song "Jai Ho". The latter song would be reworked by Ron Fair and The Pussycat Dolls into an English language adaptation "Jai Ho! " which would go on to become and international hit for the group. The soundtrack sold over two million units worldwide.

"Jai Ho" is a song composed by A. R. Rahman for the 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire. When Danny Boyle, the director of Slumdog Millionaire, approached Rahman to compose its soundtrack, he included the song. "Jai Ho" accompanies a choreographed dance sequence at the end credits of the film. Indian singer Tanvi Shah wrote and provided vocals for an English section of the song. "Jai Ho" is a phrase which can be roughly translated as "Let [the] victory prevail", "Let there be victory", or "May there always be victory".

Madhur Mittal is an Indian actor. He is best known for his character 'Tito' in the TV serial Shaka Laka Boom Boom and his performance as Salim Malik in the film Slumdog Millionaire, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 2008 and for which he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Aaj Ki Raat is a 2006 Hindi song from the Bollywood film soundtrack for Don: The Chase Begins Again. That film is a remake of the 1978 film, Don. The track is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. The song became more popular internationally when later used by AR Rahman in the Academy Award–winning 2008 soundtrack Slumdog Millionaire.

Ganesh Acharya is an Indian choreographer, film director and film actor active in India's Bollywood. He has choreographed for Bodyguard and Singham amongst others. He has also appeared in numerous music videos for films. He opened as a film actor with the 2013 dance film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance. He won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for his work on the song "Hawan Kund" from the 2013 movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and the "Gori tu lath mar" song from the 2017 movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. After her first marriage ended in a divorce, she married her second husband Prashant in an intimate Hindu wedding ceremony held in Kanpur. The beautiful couple met on a film set, where Prashant worked as an Art Assistant and quickly developed a fondness for each other. After enjoying deep conversations and spending ample time together, the couple finally decided to tie the knot in the most jovial fervor.
