The Lucas Oil School of Racing is a racing school located in Port Richey, Florida that launched in December of 2015. [1] In 2016, Lucas Oil School of Racing was chosen to host the finals for both the Team USA Scholarship [2] and Mazda Road to Indy USF2000 Scholarship [3] shootouts.
Basic 2-Day programs are offered at more than a dozen race tracks in North America. A combination of classroom instruction and on-track driving teach the fundamentals of operating and driving a race car. Successful completion of a Basic 2-Day program qualifies a driver for a SCCA Regional Competition License.
Advanced Lapping is offered alongside Basic 2-Day programs, and provide drivers with seat time to build experience. Drivers are introduced to the data recorded during their on-track sessions.
The Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series is an entry-level, arrive-and-drive formula racing series for young drivers transitioning from karting into race cars, as well as drivers interested in racing as an avocation.
Private Events are custom events executed for corporate group, driving clubs, and other organizations looking for exclusive branding and training for their members and clients.
The Lucas Oil School of Racing maintains a fleet of (20) purpose built Ray Race Cars GR-RSC open-wheel formula type race cars. Each car is powered by a two-liter, normally-aspirated engine backed by a Sadev five-speed sequential transmission controlled by Pro Shift steering wheel mounted paddle shifter. Each car is equipped with AiM Sportline digital display steering wheel, data acquisition, and in-car video systems, and rides on Cooper Tires.
Kart racing or karting is a motorsport discipline using open-wheel, four-wheeled vehicles known as go-karts or shifter karts. They are usually raced on scaled-down circuits, although some professional kart races are also held on full-size motorsport circuits. Karting is commonly perceived as the stepping stone to the higher ranks of motorsports, with most Formula One drivers—including Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, and Max Verstappen—having begun their careers in karting.
Autobahn Country Club is an auto racing road course located in Joliet, Illinois, operated as a country club, while also hosting many outside events. Autobahn was the first purpose-built motorsports country club in the United States, and has inspired several others. The club has a sanctioning body called Autobahn Member Racing, which hosts series for Spec Miatas, GT cars, karts, Radical Sportscars, a discipline called Chase Racing similar to bracket racing, open wheel cars, as well as competitions for rallycross and autocross. As of the 2023 race season, the club requires a $45,000 membership initiation fee. Annual dues is $6100. Membership includes unlimited access to the tracks six days a week in season, use of the Member Clubhouse, which contains a bar and 40,000 sq. ft. event space. Members can purchase land to build garages and personal condos. A Social/Karting Membership is $5900 and includes all Member Social Events and unlimited access to the go-kart track at Kart Circuit Autobahn, during member hours. Notable members include legendary racers Bobby Rahal, Graham Rahal, David Heinemeier Hansson, Cooper MacNeil, Jay Howard, Peter Dempsey, and Tom Bagley. Many members use the club to drive their exotic and classic cars.
MotorSport Vision (MSV) is a motorsport organisation and an operator of six UK venues. MSV has a portfolio ranging from major two and four-wheel championships to organising the PalmerSport corporate driving event.
Simon Mark Harrison is a British racing driver. He won two National Saloon Car Championships in 1994 and 1999, as well as the Production Class of the British Touring Car Championship in 2001.
The USF Pro Championships Presented by Continental Tire, formerly known as the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires, is a racecar driver development program, providing a scholarship-funded path to reach the IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500. Sanctioned by IndyCar, the Road to Indy is owned and managed by Andersen Promotions. On December 9, 2010 it was announced that Mazda would become the title sponsor of the program and provide scholarships for series champions to advance to the next rung of the ladder with all three series running on Cooper Tires.
Connor De Phillippi is an American professional racing driver and gold rated BMW Motorsport works driver.
Simraceway was an online racing simulation that hosted live, multiplayer racing events. The race environment was developed by Ignite Game Technologies, Inc. The service used a client-server software model similar to popular online games such as World of Warcraft allowing the racing environment to be continually updated.
Heamin Choi is a race car driver. He is the first Korean driver to race in the American Open Wheel Series, and the first Korean driver to participate in any race held in the United States. He has won the 2005 BAT Championship, 2006 Korea GT championship (GT1), and 2013 Super Race GT driver's title. He was also the Samsung Everland scholarship driver through year 2003 to 2005. In 2016, Choi participated in IndyLights.
Scott Hargrove is a Canadian racing driver from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Trent Hindman is an American racing driver. Hindman won the 2014 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge in the GS class. He also was selected by BMW Motorsport for their junior program in 2015.
Ryan Hampton is a former American Indy Lights driver. Besides racing cars in races he also competed in drift competitions.
The 2016 Mazda Road to Indy Shootout was the first edition of the Road to Indy Shootout. The event was held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on December 6 and 7. The winner received a $200,000 scholarship to compete in the 2017 U.S. F2000 National Championship.
Trenton Estep is an American professional racing driver. Estep grew up racing karts from the age of 4 years old in New Braunfels, Texas. He competed in various karting competitions such as SKUSA Pro Tour, Florida Winter Tour, US Open and Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal. In 2016 he made the transition from karts to open wheel cars. He entered the Formula Tour F1600, Canadian F1600 Super Series and F1600 Championship Series winning two Championships. He also ran in the opening round of the Redbull Global Rallycross Championship in Phoenix Arizona. In 2017 Estep made his transition from open wheel to cars in the North American Porsche GT3 Cup Series, with JDX Racing. Estep finished on podium 11 of 16 races with multiple wins placing 3rd in the Porsche GT3 Cup Championship. In 2018 he returned to the Porsche GT3 Cup series with JDX Racing with renewed sponsorship by Hertz Global along with a new sponsor Byers Porsche of Columbus Ohio. Estep went on to finish on Podium in 14 of 16 races winning the 2018 IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Championship. A final honor to end his season was being chosen by Porsche Motorsports to attend the Porsche Junior Programme Shootout in Le Castellet at Circuit Paul Ricard. Estep was only 1 of 11 and the youngest at age 18 of the top Porsche drivers from all over the world under the age of 25 to receive the exclusive invite. At the end of the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season Trenton was chosen by Porsche Motorsport North America as a "Porsche Selected Driver" for 2023. Starting in 2019 through present Trenton is a professional driver coach and driver for MDK Motorsports based in Pataskala Ohio.
Oliver Clark Askew is an American-Swedish race car driver who races under the American flag. He is the 2019 Indy Lights champion.
The 2017 Mazda Road to Indy Shootout was the second edition of the Road to Indy Shootout. The event was held at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park on December 9 and 10. The winner, Irishman Keith Donegan, received a $200,000 scholarship to compete in the 2018 U.S. F2000 National Championship.
Kyle MacLean Kirkwood is an American auto racing driver. He currently drives the No. 27 for Andretti Autosport in the IndyCar Series.
Matthew A. Jaskol is an American professional auto racing driver and spotter who has competed in a variety of disciplines including kart, open-wheel, and stock car racing. He last competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 13 Toyota Supra for MBM Motorsports. Jaskol won the 2016 Indianapolis 500 as a spotter for Alexander Rossi.
Josh Green is an American racing driver. He currently competes in the 2023 INDY NXT driving for HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing. Green previously competed with Turn 3 Motorsport in the 2022 Indy Pro 2000 Championship.
Jackson Lee is an American racing driver. He currently competes in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge for Czabok-Simpson Motorsport.
Keith Donegan, is an Irish racing driver and team owner who last drove in the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship for Race Performance Motorsport. He is the owner of the team, having purchased the assets of RP Motorsport in February 2022. Following Round 5 of the championship, Donegan stepped back from driving to continue as just the owner.
