Numerology is the belief in an occult,divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is also the study of the numerical value,via an alphanumeric system,of the letters in words and names. When numerology is applied to a person's name,it is a form of onomancy. It is often associated with the paranormal,alongside astrology,and is similar to divinatory arts.
Feng shui,sometimes called Chinese geomancy,is an ancient Chinese traditional practice which claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. The term feng shui means,literally,"wind-water". From ancient times,landscapes and bodies of water were thought to direct the flow of the universal Qi –"cosmic current" or energy –through places and structures. More broadly,feng shui includes astronomical,astrological,architectural,cosmological,geographical and topographical dimensions.
Geomancy translates literally to "earth divination," and the term is used for methods of divination that interpret geographic features,markings on the ground,or the patterns formed by soil,rocks,or sand.
Baguazhang is one of the three main Chinese martial arts of the Wudang school,the other two being tai chi and xingyiquan. It is more broadly grouped as an internal practice. Baguazhang literally means "eight trigram palm",referring to the bagua "trigrams" of the I Ching,one of the canons of Taoism.

In Chinese philosophy,a taijitu is a symbol or diagram representing Taiji in both its monist (wuji) and its dualist in application as a deductive and inductive theoretical model. Such a diagram was first introduced by Neo-Confucian philosopher Zhou Dunyi of the Song Dynasty in his Taijitu shuo (太極圖說).
The Complete Classics Collection of Ancient China is a vast encyclopedic work written in China during the reigns of the Qing dynasty emperors Kangxi and Yongzheng. It was begun in 1700 and completed in 1725. The work was headed and compiled mainly by scholar Chen Menglei (陳夢雷). Later on the Chinese painter Jiang Tingxi helped work on it as well.
The bagua is a set of symbols from China intended to illustrate the nature of reality as being composed of mutually opposing forces reinforcing one another. Bagua is a group of trigrams—composed of three lines,each either "broken" or "unbroken",which represent yin and yang,respectively. Each line having two possible states allows for a total of 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 trigrams,whose early enumeration and characterization in China has had an effect on the history of Chinese philosophy and cosmology.
The luopan or geomantic compass is a Chinese magnetic compass,also known as a feng shui compass. It is used by a feng shui practitioner to determine the precise direction of a structure,place or item. Luo Pan contains a lot of information and formulas regarding its functions. The needle points towards the south magnetic pole.
The Luo River is a tributary of the Yellow River in China. It rises in the southeast flank of Mount Hua in Shaanxi province and flows east into Henan province,where it eventually joins the Yellow River at the city of Gongyi. The river's total length is 420 kilometres (260 mi).
Qimen Dunjia is an ancient form of divination from China. It is still in use in Mainland China,Taiwan,Hong Kong,Macau,Malaysia,Singapore and the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia. It is one of the Three Styles of Chinese divination,with Da Liu Ren and Tai Yi Shen Shu.
The longma is a fabled winged horse with dragon scales in Chinese mythology. Seeing a longma was an omen of a legendary sage-ruler,particularly one of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors.
Xuan Kong Flying Star feng shui or Xuan Kong Fei Xing is a discipline in Feng Shui,and is an integration of the principles of Yin Yang,the interactions between the five elements,the eight trigrams,the Lo Shu numbers,and the 24 Mountains,by using time,space and objects to create an astrological chart to analyze positive auras and negative auras of a building.
Ancient Chinese urban planning encompasses the diverse set of cultural beliefs,social and economic structures,and technological capacities that historically influenced urban design in the early period of Chinese civilization. Factors that have shaped the development of Chinese urbanism include:fengshui geomancy and astronomy;the well-field system;the cosmological belief that Heaven is round,and the Earth is square,the concept of qi;political power shared between a ruling house and educated advisers;the holy place bo;a three-tiered economic system under state control;early writing;and the walled capital city as a diagram of political power.
Yubu,translated as Pace(s) of Yu or Step(s) of Yu,is the basic mystic dance step of religious Daoism. This ancient walking or dancing technique typically involves dragging one foot after another,and is explained in reference to the legendary Yu the Great,who became lame on one side of his body from exerting himself while establishing order in the world after the Great Flood. Daoist religions,especially during the Six Dynasties period (220–589),incorporated Yubu into rituals,such as the Bugang 步罡"pace the Big Dipper",in which a Taoist priest would symbolically walk the nine stars of the Beidou 北斗"Big Dipper" in order to acquire that constellation's supernatural energy.
Bugang is a Daoist ritual dance or walk,based upon the Yubu "Steps of Yu" tradition,in which a Taoist priest paces through a supernatural pattern,such as stars in the Big Dipper or numbers in the Loshu magic square. Texts from the Shangqing School revelations contain the earliest descriptions of bugang,frequently with the practitioner pacing among constellations,especially the Big Dipper's stars. When religious Daoism began during the Six Dynasties period,the expression bugang tadou 步罡踏斗"pacing the guideline and treading on the Dipper" became popular.
The Yellow River Map,Scheme,or Diagram,also known by its Chinese name as the Hetu,is an ancient Chinese diagram that appears in myths concerning the invention of writing by Cangjie and other culture heroes. It is usually paired with the Luoshu Square—named in reference to the Yellow River's Luo tributary—and used with the Luoshu in various contexts involving Chinese geomancy,numerology,philosophy,and early natural science.
9 Star Ki is a popular system of astrology,often used alongside Feng shui. It is an adjustment or consolidation,made in 1924 by Shinjiro Sonoda (1876–1961),to traditional Chinese divination and geomancy methods,such as Flying Star Feng Shui,the Ming Gua number from the Eight Mansions Compass School of Feng Shui,and combining the Lo Shu Square with the "Later Heaven" Bagua.
Lei Ting curse charms,or Lôi Đình curse charms,are a type of Chinese and Vietnamese numismatic charms,these charms can be described as a talismanic coin as they are often based on Chinese cash coins but can also have round holes instead of square ones and may also be shaped like gourd charms.
Taoist coin charms,or Daoist coin charms are a family of categories of Chinese and Vietnamese numismatic charms that incorporate elements of the Taoist religion. Taoist coin charms come in various shapes,sizes,and formats and can contain inscriptions or wholly pictorial designs. While a large number of Taoist coin charms have their inscriptions written in traditional Chinese characters,a subset of Taoist coin charms have inscriptions written in Taoist "magic" writing. In these countries similar numismatic charms existed for Buddhist and Confucianism,and at times Taoist coin charms would also incorporate symbolism from these other religions.
