Hellenization or Hellenism is the adoption of Greek culture,religion,language,and identity by non-Greeks. In the ancient period,colonization often led to the Hellenization of indigenous peoples;in the Hellenistic period,many of the territories which were conquered by Alexander the Great were Hellenized;under the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire,much of its territory was Hellenized.
Sagalassos,also known as Selgessos and Sagallesos,is an archaeological site in southwestern Turkey,about 100 km north of Antalya and 30 km from Burdur and Isparta. The ancient ruins of Sagalassos are 7 km from Ağlasun in the province of Burdur,on Mount Akdağ,in the Western Taurus mountains range,at an altitude of 1450–1700 metres. In Roman Imperial times,the town was known as the "first city of Pisidia",a region in the western Taurus mountains,currently known as the Turkish Lakes Region. During the Hellenistic period it was already one of the major Pisidian towns.

The ancient temple-complex,perhaps of Huzirina,now represented by the tell of Sultantepe,is a Late Assyrian archeological site at the edge of the Neo-Assyrian empire,now in Şanlıurfa Province,Turkey. Kakasbos is an ancient Anatolian deity. Linked to Herakles at latest at the beginning of the Roman Imperial Era,he has been venerated exclusively in Southern Asia Minor,more precisely in Lycia and Pisidia. As a club-bearing horse rider god,Kakasbos seems to be related to protection against wild dangers,but this hypothesis is still discussed among historians.

Michael Richard Edward Gough was a British archaeologist and the third Director of the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara (1961-1968). As Director of the BIAA Gough pioneered the archaeology of early Christian sites in Turkey in anticipation of changes in academic viewpoints which were to follow in the 1990s.
David Henry French was a British archaeologist known especially for his work in Asia Minor.
David Crampton Winfield MBE was a British conservator and Byzantinist who specialised in wall paintings. The first part of his career was spent abroad,mainly in Turkey and Cyprus,and he was awarded an MBE in 1974 for his conservation work in Cyprus. In his obituary in The Times,David Winfield was described as “an investigative archaeological explorer cast in the mould of the great 19th-century scholar-travellers”.
Heritage Turkey is an annual magazine-type publication containing reports of research projects supported by the British Institute at Ankara. Short articles are written by project directors and scholars. Heritage Turkey,which was first published in 2011,features articles mostly on archaeological excavations in Anatolia. It is a continuation of the Anatolian Studies journal published by the British Institute at Ankara and Cambridge University Press.
