The company was operating around 200 newspapers and associated websites around the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man when it went into administration and was the purchased by JPIMedia in 2018. The Falkirk Herald was the company's first acquisition in 1846. Johnston Press's assets were transferred to JPIMedia in 2018, who continued to publish its titles.

The Burton Mail is a British daily newspaper published each weekday and on Saturdays. It covers the East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire areas. In the period December 2010 to June 2011, it had an average daily circulation of 12,198. The only paid-for title in Burton-on-Trent, the Mail has been established for more than a century, and prints news from the town and its surrounding area.

National World plc is a British multimedia company. The company was founded and listed on the London Stock Exchange as National World plc in September 2019. In January 2021, it became operational with the acquisition of JPIMedia for £10.2 million. In April 2022, JPIMedia was rebranded to National World. Since purchasing JPIMedia, National World has launched sixteen new titles and made a further seven acquisitions, notably Insider Media.
The Lymington Times and New Milton Advertiser are weekly English broadsheet newspapers which serve the New Forest in Hampshire and neighbouring Christchurch in Dorset. They are published by Highland News and Media Limited.
