Lyreco is a worldwide distributor of office supplies and workplace services, founded in 1926 by Georges-Gaston Gaspard in the Valenciennes area of France.

The company focused its development on the French territory during the 1970s. In 1989, Lyreco Group acquired its first company outside France, and the Group is now active in 25 countries in Europe and Asia and covers 16 additional markets on 4 continents through a network of distribution partners and employs 12,000 people. In December 2018, Lyreco diversified. The family Group acquired two companies from the Dutch Broadview Holding: Intersafe, in the Netherlands, and Elacin. Both specialize in personal protective equipment (PPE), from goggles to gas detectors to custom earplugs. [2] [3] [4]

Lyreco provides a diverse range of products and services aimed at enhancing safety, well-being, and productivity in the workplace. The offerings include office supplies, furniture, IT equipment, printing solutions, personal protective equipment, hygiene products, coffee, and catering services. [5]

The Lyreco Story

Founded in 1926 by Georges-Gaston Gaspard as a bookstore in Valenciennes, France, the company evolved into a B-to-B provider of office products and services. Under the leadership of Etienne Gaspard and Georges Gaspard, Lyreco expanded internationally with the acquisition of Vermeire in Belgium in 1989. The company rebranded as Lyreco in 2001. [6]

Lyreco and Sustainability

Lyreco's commitment to sustainability is reflected in its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact since 2004. Corporate responsibility became a strategic pillar in 2012, with the Eco-Future strategy. Lyreco launched initiatives such as product manufacturer audits, sustainable strategies, and CO2 emission reduction programs. In 2020, the company outlined five commitments to help customers reduce non-recyclable waste and minimize their environmental impact. [7]

Charity Programme - Lyreco for Education

Lyreco for Education, established in 2008, embodies Lyreco's commitment to promoting education worldwide. The program focuses on fundraising across countries, involving Lyreco employees. The aim is to improve access to education for children globally. Completed projects have enhanced education quality and equality in countries such as Bangladesh, Vietnam, Brazil, Togo, Madagascar, and Cambodia. Currently, Lyreco is working on a new project in Ethiopia to support 10 schools over the next three years. [8]
